Do we think that Gaara may have secretly learnt to use Taijutsu?

Shino has learnt to(filler ep), it would drastically improve Gaara all round if he had some Taijutsu.
Imagine the sand with an exellent offense & defense in Taijutsu. The sand would be the cherry on the cake.

Thoughts?

He most likely has, at first he was too cocky and thought his sand would protect him from everything but since it can't he would of realised that and improved on it.

Good call. I agree, I think he's maybe learnt to be very good at it and is simply waiting to have to use it. Maybe we'll see him do something cool vs Madara.

Would be even better if his fight against Lee made him learn the 8-gates mode....hehe, not likely but a good twist.

Meh...He knows Taijutsu but he ain't gonna be good at it. He may be average, not too good, not too bad. Gaara is a long-range fighter. Learning Taijutsu will not increase his overall strength, but versatility and ability to defend against close range threats.

id say yes, he might have learned it with his sand, could be a huge improvement to gaara, he would be even stronger and fight more equal with others.
Fully agree. He's not stupid and should know that close quarters is his only real weakness. This should be enough for him to want to get rid of that flaw. Also,he could use his chakra infused sand armour to enhance his speed, attack, and defence greatly. No reason why he can't carry himself around quickly inside of it. Instead of it being heavy, he could control his body with it.

Yeah hopefully.

@the people who are saying the sand would make it stronger, i'm not sure that it would i think that it would cushion the punch, it's like how kabuto said when susano was destroyed "The Tsuchikage's punch shouldn't of destroyed the susano but with the Raikage's added power it did.

So u said that gaara should defend with his fists insted with his shield armor in which he improved to the point it can even defend again amaterasu?

HAHA! I get ya.

No,I'm not saying that he should use fists instead. If someone does manage to get close to him though and past his sand then it would be good if he was able to still attack or defend himself with his hands.
His sand is amazing and will improve more I'm sure but being content with that would be ignorant. Improving himself is what Gaara does and I don't think he's gonna stop at Taijutsu.
Imagine if he could have an aggresive Taijutsu based assault in which he didn't need to worry about using his hands to defend himself as the sand would automatically do so. He would be free to focus on physical attacks while the sand defends him and also even use some other sand to launch surprise attacks or utilize the ground around him to trip or catch the opponent.

You don't think that'd be pretty sweet/smart of him?

Ithink the only way he could use taijutsu if he would cover his body with sand like he did when he fought team 7 in chunin exams part when he sliped in shukakus halve and miniature form.
Yea it would be cool if he traps enemy and then punch him but it is allot easyer to trap and kill him with Sand Binding Coffin

He could, but he's progressed so far in mastering his sand techniques that it would be pointless this far into the manga. Besides, Gaaras sand is fast enough to be compete with any taijutsu user with the exception of maybe the Fourth Raikage and Gai sensei. Not to mention it was fast enough to block Amaterasu. You could make the argument that he should learn it for close quarters combat seeing as he's mostly long range, but if you remember there was nothing long range about his fight with Rock Lee and he did fairly well.

gaara needs to practice his taijutsu , so he can fight while controlling the sand how he wants, it would make him a way better ninja, and gaara is not fragile anymore, he took on mizukage's explosion head on. just imagine gaara attacking the enemy with quick taijutsu moves, and then he builds sand around the enemy then jumping back while the sand engulfs the exhausted enemy.

Gaara won against rock lee yes, but he was also severely pumelled. He took a massive beating which is fine I guess as his powers allow him to do so. Simply because you can take a beating, doesn't mean you should. Trying to fight without getting hit is the way to go and if you do get caught, then if you can take it great. Gaara was pushed to the limit against Lee and he shouldn't have been.
When I think about Kimimaru breaking Gaara's sand wall and sending him flying, I can't help but feel a well timed punch would have worked wonders. Or maybe a sand spear technique.
The problem with thinking that your technique's are enough to handle any fighter is that there is a chance that they might not be. Gaara is a tactician and knows this. It's therefore reasonable to assume that Gaara will want to be an even match for anything and anyone. Those who ignore history and doomed to repeat it, and Taijutsu has hurt Gaara many times.

Paul-Sama. You are indeed a smart individual. Many yen to ya.

I agree. This would be a formidable offensive and he always has the defensive skills there should he need it. He is flawed in my eyes until he learns Taijutsu, then he will have covered almost every field required to be a super bad-ass. BTW Gaara is my favourite character so I'm not hatin on him.

It's not gonna happen, Gaara would be OP and it wouldn't fit his whole "Gaara of the sand theme". Kishi likes to distinguish characters, this is guy is good at this, this guy is bad at that, this guy is known for this element, etc. If you start giving characters all these things all you're gonna do is end up with a bunch of Itachis running around. lol But you're completely right, Gaara would benefit greatly from learning taijutsu.

I hope that Gaara does do something in the hand to hand sense. It would be nice to see and although I agree that Kishi is keen on making characters a particular way, he has changed Gaara's style much more than any other characters. I get the odd feeling that just for Gaara, this is something we're gonna see soon. If not, I will give you all my Yen...and a puppy ;)
