Hi guys,

Was bored and thought of this and wanted to hear your story. Have you ever worked for a game forum before? Doesn't matter which one it was just want to hear your story.

Have you worked for any forum whatsoever? Doesn't matter if it was short either.

My story:

Warning: It's REALLY long. Read at your own discretion.

I used to be a member of a famous online mmorpg called Fiesta. I played o the original for about 2 years I think. I spent a lot of money then. Partly because I was working at a good job and making good money. But then I became turned off because although it was free, in order to be good you had to purchase form the item mall which cost a lot of money.

I decided to quit but was unsure of where to go. I didn't wan to go looking for another game. The ones I would find all had a more mature theme which I thought was lame. That was until I was reading the forums that I saw the word "private server". I mean I had heard it before but was unsure what it really was.

SO I went to investigate and liked what I found. I played this private server called Athens. I played for a couple months until they were shut down due to copyright infringement. A couple months later I joined this low quaslity server called Pintos. It sucked until I found about another server, Telaria. It was tons better. I pleayed there for a while and became one of the first moderators there. After a couple months I was promoted to Game Manager. I was in charge of the Admins & Moderators and keeping people in line.

Was the most diverse but fullfilling job I have ever done. I loved helping our community grow. We had very talented artists and knowledgeable staff. I say my work days were 8-16 hour days for 7 days a week. I did that nonstop for about 6 months I think until we went to open beta.

Then the rain fail....U_U

We released the game too early and we were filled with bugs and complaints. We handled what we could but eventually we couldn't do it anymore. We lost some staff members as well because all the drama that ensued. Me and the guy who was running the site (like Versuvio's job) decided to close the game and reopen as a totally new game. Start fresh but not at the way bottom. But I went on a week break because my boyfriend went on a family reunion(he was a moderator and dev (developer). When I came back he was gone and changed his email.

So...then I found Narutobase and have been here ever since August.

Sorry for the long story. D:

I've been around quite a bit. I can't recall half the forums I've worked for, and whatnot. My internet experiences started around 1997-98.

Probably because you're a troll, and members of NB are susceptible to trolling. Either way, that's not an accomplishment, nor is it working for a forum.

Lol guys I am a dude. I didn't mistype anything besides form which was supposed to be from. I guess spellchecker doesn't do its job most of the time. :/

Thank you zombie and lol at ama and ackeem.

ANyways, I tried several times to make a forum but I always failed at drawing people. I went through alot of online tutorials and constant testing to figure out how a forum works.

Being a moderator is hard work because you are making sure people have a fun time but at the same time keep it civil so mass chaos doesn't break out. Not to mention you are constantly saying the same thing over and over again to the same type of people. U_U

I was awesome at writing staff notices to the community. I organized all the rules and put them all together.

One thing I disliked about being part of a forum staff are the unexperienced people that join that constantly break the rules and cuss at members. I understand when its in fun but when someone asks you a question and you lash out on them that is just wrong.

BUt above all, I hate trolls who play off as the innocent people but you can clearly read between the lines. U_U

my first try was an utter failure , i thought it was cleaver to start a forum with my friends from school and stuff and get them to invite their friends till everyone from our town joins
and it turned into a local rumor farm <_<
than i tried a tech support forum and i got some members , but everyone who joined seemed to be looking for answers more than willing to provide it >_< it was a fail as well
these things seem easy but they are really hard in reality

I didn't even want to touch the tech support forum. >__>

I was fortunate to have someone who was a real genius at that kind of thing. He freaking owned his own big company and he is only what like 20?

I hosted/owned my own forum. It worked for what I needed, but then money got tight and I shut it down. Takes time and effort to properly operate one so I give mad credit to all of the staff/mods/senseis/sempais here on NB. It's not always easy and it isn't always fun and games.

Just think about trying to regulate 100k members with roughly 20 people in total; 10 (approx. too lazy to count) of which can make changes to certain aspects of the members' experience. Just imagine how many pm's/vm's they have to sift through!

Wouldn't mind helping them to make it easier on them. :/
