In this thread I will talk about the negative aspects of the character Danzo, which allot of people miss because they aren't that apparant in the manga, but are details.
Disclaimer: If you are a Danzo fan, please do not take this thread as a personal attack towards you, you can like Danzo for being a coward evil dog or for other reasons, that is your choise

1. Failures with the Second Hokage and Hiruzen:
Danzo was always inferrior to Hiruzen and never came close to even being an equal of Hiruzen. Unlike Sasuke and Naruto or Jiraiya and Orochimaru, there was never the balance of power and the will to surpass and actually surpass each other multiple times. Naruto was inferrior to Sasuke, yet he never gave up, practised and managed to Surpass Sasuke for some time. This was also the case with Jiraiya and Orochimaru, yet less than the scale of Naruto and Sasuke. Danzo always whined and was insecure, he had a weak character.
When he wanted to protect the Ninja squad when they were chased, he couldn't bring himself to volunteer to distract the enemy so the others could escape. A cowardly dog who feared death and was paralized even at the thought to be confronted with his death. Hiruzen proudly and bravely volunteerd and Danzo protested, which shows that he is an arrognat person who couldn't accept the truth... lying that he was "going to volunteer". The Second Hokage noticed his lie and his weak character and thus before he himself went to distract the enemies, he crowned Hiruzen as the Third Hokage, rightfully.
2. Orochimaru's experimental lab rat:
Orochimaru has abused many weak people and has actually helped and inspired allot of people. He trained and made Sasuke stronger as his student, for his own selfish benefit. He inspired and worked together with Kabuto, I think that kabuto was one of the few who he truly cared for without a selvish reason. Kimimaru, he trained him, raised him and tried to cure his illness and also inspired him, though for his own selvish benefit.
Danzo... what was Danzo to Orochimaru? Nothing but a mere tool, he didn't care for him, he used him as a pathetic experimental lab rat. Danzo had a weak character and agreed with Orochimaru experementing on him so he could get a little more stronger, he was a leeching parasite.
3. Abusing Itachi's sacrafise:
Itachi was a pacifist, he hated war. He had seen the behaviour of his clan and their plan to start a coup d' etat. He couldn't reason with the Uchiha clan and their selvish/justified (depends on how you think about it) hunger for power over the Hidden Leaf Village. A direct qoute of Itachi regarding his Clans behaviour: "I have lost all hope for this pathetic clan" *while throwing a kunai at the Uchiha symbol*. If the coup d' etat would proceed then not only the village but the entire fire nation would be vulnerable and tormented by war.
Itachi had to chose between two evil choises: 1. The bigger evil: Allow/join the coup de etat and start a war through the entire fire nation. 2. The lesser evil: Stop the coup de etat and prevent war and the loss of countless lives. Itachi chose the lesser evil, he sacrafised himself, his life and himself, suffering beyond imagination for his actions both mentally and openly (his reputation).
Danzo abused this Itachi's sacrafise and took the oppurtunity to collect Sharingans so he could get stronger, just like a cowardly dog and parasite. After all Itachi did, he even dared to accuse Itachi for betraying the village during his fight with Sasuke because he thought Itachi had told Sasuke the truth, Danzo is not smart so he didn't even think about the possibility that others like Tobi would have told sasuke the truth or that sasuke was trying to confirm it. The arrogance and stupidity of Danzo... priceless.
4. Fall and Corruption of Nagato -> Jiraiya's death:
This is the biggest reason why I hate danzo and everything he stands for. It was Danzo that offered a plan to Hanzo of the Salamander and prusaded him to accept it. Hanzo the Salamander, thanks to Danzo, betrayed the "good" Akatsuki. They set up a trap and made Good Nagato kill Yahiko. Because of Yahiko's death, Nagato took an extremely negative mental shock and became corrupted and filled with hate, this was his second largest pain and the final reason why he became corrupted.
Corrpted Nagato killed Jiraiya. After everything Jiraiya gave him... Jiraiya loved Nagato, trained him, made him stronger, gave him joy and cared for him, yet the corrupted Nagato killed his sensei and in a way his second father... All of this because he was corrupted and thought the only way to bring peace is with pain... Not only that, in the end, Nagato changed his mind after talking Naruto so Jiraiya died for nothing.
All this sorrow, all this pain, all because of Danzo.
5. Cowardice and Betrayel during Pain invasion:
Here we can see the disgusting cowardice and pathetic character of Danzo in it's fullest glory. During the Pain invasion, he was hiding and betrayed his village so he could become hokage and take over power after the fight was over.
- He betrayed his village and sacrafised everyone for his selfish pathetic attampt to become hokage and get more power.
- He hid in the shadows like a cowardly dog, he was terrified to fight six paths of Pain because he feared death.
Those are not the attributes of a hokage. The attributes of a Hokage are what SM Naruto displayed when he took the 6 Paths of Pain head on to protect the village and his friends, exactly what Hiruzen displayed and why he was chosen the be the third hokage.
6. Fight vs Sasuke and Danzo's Death:
During his fight with Sasuke we could see how arrogant, dumb and pathetic Danzo's character was, underestimating Sasuke. Sasuke is not the smartest Shinobi around, but he managed to outsmart and outskill Danzo many times:
- The hawk throwing Danzo's shuriken back at him and cutting his hand off, precisely as planned by Sasuke.
- Sasuke, while having weak Genjutsu, perfectly timing a Genjutsu on Danzo for a short period of time and defeating him.
When he was defeated he knew that he would die, his pathetic cowardly nature and character displayed its self once more when he took Karin as a hostage, thinking it would save him and he did it for the "shinobi world" not for himself, which is another lie. He feared death.
Sasuke, become a true avenger, the real deal when he pierced Danzo right through Karin.... "Nisan, one down" *badass smile*.
While dying he still could not face his death and he made a pathetic attamp to run away... before dying he displayed the most pathetic self destruction ability which I had ever seen in my life, nothing like Deidara's C0. His self destruction was so pathetic that Sasuke could avoid it by disengaging backwards for 10 meters LOL!
These are the reasons why Danzo failed and will always be remembered as a failure! Do you think Danzo is a failure? looking forward to what you think!
