@Koto: I appreciate that you took the time to create this thread in response to my question and I completely respect your opinion. Here are my thoughts on his character:

In my honest opinion, I think that Sasuke has led a tragic life but mainly a life of influence starting with Itachi and thus far manipulated by the "masked man". Itachi is a prime example as to what would be a possible outcome for someone influenced positively. Naruto has led a tragic life but the only difference between them is that he was able to choose his own decisions unlike Sasuke who was negatively influenced. Otherwise Naruto may have thought the same horrible things and ended up in Sasuke's shoes as he himself stated. Gaara was in a similar path possessing corruption and an unstable mentality but was able to change because of Naruto. I think it is taking Sasuke longer perhaps having lost everyone he cared about unlike Gaara who still has family. To truly understand Sasuke's character is to have everyone you ever cared about die. No one can really say for a fact that if they ever even lost one person they cared about it a brutal murder would they be insanity/vengeful free. I also think that he should be pardoned as Gaara/Suna (Gaara unstable mentality & killed/his village who were cahoots w/Orochimaru) & Konan (who killed many & helped the masked man with the Tsuki no Me Keikaku). Onoki's statement towards Naruto about uniting all of the villages as one in hopes that the birth of hatred be changed. He even went onto blaming and comparing himself and the villages to being like Madara giving birth to hatred and how they should take responsibility. Thus I think Sasuke's salvation is even more possible.
Let's entertain the thought of Sasuke being forgiven. It would be the happy ending to the somewhat tumoltuous life of Naruto. The icing on the cake. Lol.

Let us get one thing straight. Although Sasuke can be forgiven, it doesn't mean he should be forgiven. According to everyone else...

- He killed a Kage(we all know Danzo was only in title). [We all know Danzo comitted suicide but no one else does and Team 7 arrived too late to deduce who was the actual killer]

- Joined Akatsuki [This doesn't mean anything to us but for the Narutoverse he is guilty by association]

- Kidnapped Killer Bee [Well, we know they "tried". xD]

- Joined with Orochimaru [Again, guilty by association]

- Picked a fight with the Kage during the Kage Summit [Doesn't mean anything to us but in the Narutoverse that would be labeled as insubordination]

- The biggest of his crimes is abandoning his ninja village. That is grounds for treason in the Narutoverse. Punishable by death.

Although, in my opinion he hasn't really committed a really big crime like kill anyone on the good side or such, he is still considered as a S-Rank Criminal. All criminals are subject to the law - well....if they can get captured that is.

Maybe after serving a sentence or deciding to change sides and help Naruto I will change my mind. But knowing Sasuke's character type, I doubt he would want to humble himself to help the good side. He is just a kid who has lost his way and is looking for a existential purpose.

I think Choji should come out of nowhere and sit on sasuke.
Awesome. maybe that would change his mind. xD
