Chapter 1: Enter, Sons of the Moon
The sand storms of the Land of Wind sweep through Sunagakure during one of it's more vigorous of storm seasons. The village of Suna has finally achieved a state of true peace and prosperity after the passing of the Fourth Great Shinobi War. The alliances between Five Great Shinobi Nations has ended, but the hostilities that once befell each nation has also ended. 20 years has passed since Akatsuki's downfall.
“...Alright...um...Koichi, Koji you're up” The instructor says. The two brothers, Koichi and Koji Shichiyo enter the sparing ring. The two young boys stand, surrounded by there peers and several other shinobi officials. “For your test, Koichi you will be the attacker and Koji you will be the defender. Koichi you will have three minutes to take down Koji to the point you have him in a position where he's unable to fight. Koji the only thing you have to do to win is prevent that from happening, understand?” The two brothers nod to their instructor and face each other.
“Well little brother, who do you think is going to win this?” Koichi says sarcastically, smirking at his brother.
“You're only older by 2 minutes,” Koji says mockingly. “Don't think you'll always be ahead of me.”
“Once, second best always second best.”
The instructor moves from in between the two brothers and looks at the two brothers in their fighting stances. “Begin!” He says, swinging his arm down.
Right from the start Koichi darts out towards his brother, starting off his barrage of attacks. Koji blocks and evades his brother's punches and kicks with the same level of speed as his brother. Koichi shoots out a fast kick towards his brother's ribs and Koji quickly sidesteps and traps his brother's leg between his arms. Lifting his brother up, Koji twirls like a top and whips his brother away from him. Koichi lands on his feet and smirks at his brother as he gets up to rush him again. As Koichi runs towards him, Koji moves away, maintaining a distance from him.
“Very nice, knowing his opponent is strong in close combat, so he maintains a distance outside his opponent's range of attack.” One of the instructors points out. He clicks his pen and writes on his clipboard.
Noticing the pattern in his brother's running, Koichi leads him into a corner and picks up his speed to close in on him.
“Finding the pattern of his opponent's movements and leading him into a position where he's vulnerable.” Another instructor says as he writes down his observation.
Koichi leaps up in the air in an attempt to land a punch on his brother, Koji ducks and rolls right under his brother's feet and gets behind him as he lands. With lightning fast reflexes Koichi launches a power packed back kick towards Koji just as he lands. Koji goes tumbling on the ground several feet backwards. Koichi turns quickly and runs to his fallen brother. Koji rebounds fast, but not fast enough to cover from his brother next flurry of attacks. Koichi lands blow after blow on Koji, hitting him in the face, chest, and ribs. Koji is knocked back but remains on his feet, as Koichi goes for another kick, Koji sidesteps again, but this time goes for the offensive. He strikes his brother in the ribs, knocking him slightly off balance and Koji follows through with a flurry of punches and kicks. Though his attacks lack power, they prevent Koichi from striking back.
“Those guys are so good.”
“No wonder they're top of the class.”
“They're both so dreamy too.” The peanut gallery praises the two fighters. “Hey, Ryoko who do you think is cuter, Koichi or Koji?” One of the girl's asks. The girl next to her with blond hair says nothing in reply, she simply looks at the two brothers, studying their movements and their techniques as avidly as the instructors. The three girls look at Ryoko with puzzling looks. They shrug their shoulders off at the strange girl and return back to their chatter.
“*They move so swiftly, as if they know what the expect from the other, could that be just because they're twins?*” Ryoko thinks to herself. At that moment in time, Koji goes flying back, having left an opening for Koichi's kick. Koji lands on the ground hard and gets the wind knocked out of him. It takes him a short moment to regain his stable state of mind, but before he can get up, Koichi sits on top of him with a spear hand to the neck.
“Gotcha again little bro.” Koichi smirks. At that moment every one of the instructors on the side click their pens and write down on their clipboards.
“Very nice job Koichi and you too Koji.” The head instructor says, walking over to the two boys. Koichi gets off of his brother, who pouts like a little child.
“Oh come on Koji, don't act like you didn't already know I was going to win.” Koichi laughs.
“Be quiet, next time will be different.” Koji pouts. Koichi holds out his hand for his brother, smiling at him reassuringly. Koji smiles back and grabs his brother's hand and the two leave the ring.
~Several Hours Pass~
Hours pass and the last of the students take the last part of the graduation exams in Sunagakure. As kids begin heading home from the academy the instructors begin assigning the grades and ranks of the graduating parties and discuss the placement of shinobi on teams.
“AHA! I feel like celebrating, what about you little bro?”
“You're too loud Koichi why don't you try speaking like normal people.” Koji says plainly.
“But come on Koji, we just became genin! We're officially shinobi of Sunagakure now, I think that calls for a celebration.” Koichi pats his brother on the shoulder like a hammer to a nail, obviously irritating his little brother. “Hey, I think we can sneak into the VIP area of the club with the transformation technique, what do you say?” He whispers to his brother.
“I say you're an idiot who wouldn't even know what to do with a woman if she told you.”
“Oh?!” Koichi says annoyed. “Well what do you know about it then smart-ass?”
“I know enough to know that they're called breasts, instead of 'those big round things'” Koji says, walking away from his brother. Koichi blushes, remembering an embarrassing moment in his past involving that quote his brother just gave.
“Shut up! I'm still you're big brother even if it's by 2 minutes.” Koichi's flustered face says.
Koichi and Koji put on their robes and head out into the village with the ferocious sandstorm. Staring down at the two boys from the sensei lounge in the village is Godaime Kazekage Gaara.
"Are those the two?" Gaara says, addressing the instructors behind him.
“Yes, the one with the short black hair is Koichi and the one with the long brown hair is Koji. Those two had the highest scores overall for the males side, they're percentile average is just under 96.” The head instructor informs. Gaara turns his attention and sees a group of females walking behind the two boys. He looks all the way behind the group and notices a lone girl, walking.
“What about the female members?” The Kazekage asked.
“Yes, well Ryoko Taiyou had the highest average out of all the students, not just the females. Her percentile average was only a point above Koichi and Koji's though.” The instructor says.
“What are you thinking Gaara?” Kankuro's voice is heard, coming into the room, getting the attention of the other instructors. Gaara doesn't acknowledge his brother, he only continues to stare at the newly appointed young shinobi. He stares with plainness, but obvious trouble plagues his mind as his attention is focused back on the two young twins.
“How is 'he' doing?” The Kazekage asked. Kankuro turns his head down to the floor with a concerned expression. His silence lingers in the room like death, the instructors in the room are unaware of conversation between the two brothers and their existence at this point feels awkwardly placed.
Kankuro's silence makes it all to apparent to Gaara, answering his question without the need for a word. “I see then...Kankuro, I want you to be in charge of training those two shinobi.” He says.
“But Gaara-sama, with all due respect even though they're brothers, placing them together would ruin the curve of our graduates. Out of all the teams to be assigned, placing those two on opposing teams would be the best thing.”
“My reasons for this order spans beyond the importance of this year's graduating shinobi. It concerns something of higher importance to Suna, which I cannot tell you about I'm afraid. I want you to place those two on a team under Kankuro. For that matter place Ryoko with them as well, they will be the elite team. If you've truly trained the others well I expect most of them to pass the jounin organized exams for final approval.” Gaara states. Gaara turns from the window and walks ominously past the rest of the instructors to Kankuro. The Kazekage and his brother leave the room with a lingering curiosity over the heads of the instructors in the room.
“Gaara, before you do what I suspect you to be thinking, remember what he's going through...remember what you went through.” Kankuro says worryingly. Gaara says nothing as he continues to walk by his brother's side. Gaara remains deep in thought over a dark realization about Sunagakure. Though peace has been achieved from the outside, internal strife plagues Sunagakure.
“*Shichiyo...how ironic*”

I know I have two other works currently in progress, however I can't seem to focus myself on one thing when my mind blossoms with another idea for something else. With that I resolve to write all of these pieces at my own pace and then release them at a designated time, you know like a weekly manga release of Naruto...however, I will release two or three chapters during the intervals of which I release chapters. I'll try to release one chapter of each of my series' (Blood, Seeing, and this current one). That being said this is my new Fanfiction, if you want to read a brief description I'll point you to the Fanfiction organization thread (I'll link it when I make the postxd) so be patient. I was inspired to write this piece from watching an episode of an old tv series (which Ironically I forgot the name ofxd) and I've decided to make this my closest Fanfiction in relation to Naruto so you'll be seeing more of our favorites like Gaara, Kankuro, Naruto, etc...however it won't be about them, I still refuse to write things that pertain to Naruto's character as a center piece, that's Kishi's job lolxd Anyway I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to comment on any criticism you have (whether it be about grammar or plot).

chapter two is already out, chapter three (possibly four) comes out this weekend, however, due to several school related assignments I I will not be writting again for a little while. When the Holidays roll around then we will have more.
