Can Minato be trapped in a Genjutsu?

I was thinking that maybe he has some sort of seals in his body. For genjutsu protection perhaps...I guess it's possible for someone like him.

Well, I just can't figure it how Tobi failed to cast genjutsu. Is Kishi showing us how good Minato really is? It really depends on our view, but if we don't consider that chap. as a plot then it has some meaning to it.

Hey there. I'm new here and this is my first thread. Can minato be trapped in a genjutsu? Why ask this question as you may wonder. Here is the reason.

**Looking back at the fight between Tobi and Minato, Tobi was unable to use his sharingan though he's a high level sharingan user. Why high level? Someone who can control the fox is consider to be a high level sharingan user or anyone from the Uchiha can do it.

Now, some may argue that the reason why he was unable to do it because he was controlling the fox. That reasoning is valid/invalid at the same time because Tobi was unable to use his sharingan during the time he penetrated the leaf. Please refer to chapter 501. Instead of using his sharingan to control Minato, he took baby naruto as a hostage? Why do that when you can control someone with ease? He was able to control mizukage, konan, the fox but he was unable to do that to Minato for an unknown reason. He failed twice already. Is there any other reason behind Tobi's failure to cast genjutsu on Minato? Please explain

You have to stop thinking of Naruto (manga in general) as a real world and remember that it's a story. It's meant to progress and entertain us.

If Tobi used his Sharingan to control Minato then it would have been boring as shit to read. This is why he didn't do it. Plain and simple.

Why would it be? Do you realize that if that's the case then Uchihas can control naruto's world? Is Uchiha clan that great? It's plain and simple. Tobi can't use genjutsu on Minato. Think this way, if an Uchiha can use genjutsu that easily on Minato then there is no point reading this manga because they can cast genjutsu on shinobis below Minato's level and won the battle instantly. There are things Uchiha's can't do and there are shinobi's they could not defeat. I don't know who they are but one thing for sure Minato is one of those shinobi's. Every chap. in Naruto has a meaning that is why it entertains us to the max. This is the reason why so many debates arise.

Everybody in Naruto has a counter. For Uchiha, it's the Senjus. If Uchiha is that great as you claim to be then hashirama would be controlled by madara easily. What do you think is the reason why Madara loses the battle? Why didn't he cast genjutsu the moment they started to fight? I bet everybody would say that he didn't. For what reason? This also applies to Tobi.

Everyone is assuming Tobi didn't use genjutsu on Minato. Why would he not? Genjutsu is their primary weapon. Tobi knows about Minato and what he could do. Please don't tell me he doesn't know about Minato cause that's some stupid way of reasoning. Someone that has great knowledge about when the seals is at their weakest and for someone who knows where the jinchuriki will give birth means that he has a great intel.

Now, think back to the debate about Minato vs. Itachi. I bet everyone would say that Itachi will use genjutsu on Minato the moment they confront each other. That is their primary reason to win a debate. If everybody knows an Uchiha will cast a genjutsu against someone like Minato, why Tobi can't? Do you honestly believe that Itachi's sharingan is greater than Tobi when Tobi was able to control the fox?

Plot or not plot. We are entitled to our own opinions. No one is right or wrong. But, the moment the debate arises then there has to be somebody kicking someones ass.

Let us stop all the assumptions because it will go in circles. I can provide scenarios where Minato can defeat everybody and everyone of you can as well. If that's the case then the last option to seal a debate about Minato vs a Sharingan user would be.....Please prove that Minato is weak to genjutsu. If someone can provide that then well and good. Please don't provide examples where an Uchiha casts genjutsus on other shinobis because every shinobi has his/her own skillset. If this is the case then an Uchiha can cast genjutsu on the sage.

I am still confused and I really want to know the best answer there is as to why Tobi failed to cast genjutsu twice on Minato.

Thank you for sharing your thought. I want everybody to clear their mind and forget about the plot no jutsu because every chap in Naruto has a meaning. If we can solve kishi's mysteries then that would be great. We are occupied in vs modes and defend our favorite character. Everyone also ignores some chapters and called it a plot. I don't think Kishi is stupid enough to ruin this manga when at it's peak. He might given us the ideas but we overlook it.

Fanboyism is a common term given to someone defending their character but that someone calling the someone fanboy failed to realize that he is one of the fanboy as he is defending a character. It's really funny that this term existed.

I'm really trying to solve Kishi's mysteries that is why I'm making this thread. I'm trying to connect every detail there is as possible. I believe that I'm in the right track to uncover his mysteries. I'm not trying to do vs battles, but if this is a way to solve some issues then let it be. I always believe in the saying two heads are better than one, but if those two heads are empty then I prefer one..

(sorry for late reply but since I saw no one really gave a satisfactory answer...)

Here's my theory:
I believe that Tobi (I'll call him 'Tobi' for all intents and purposes since 'Madara' seems to be on the wrong side of it) didn't want to face Minato right away, because he was uncertain of his chances to win, the Fourth Hokage was famous in all 5 shinobi nations after all, there was even a run-on-sight (XP) order for him. To put it another way, maybe Tobi was uncertain whether he can trap Minato in a genjutsu effectively and he didn't want to risk a full-open fight with his precious Jinchuuriki in the same room. He wanted to separate Minato and Kushina so he tried forcing him to use FTG (which worked obviously), he wouldn't want a gazillion exploding tags to blow up in the same room with Kushina. Maybe he just wanted to make sure that he did what he came for (release Kyuubi) before facing the Fourth - that way he can be sure that Konoha will get it either way.

Might require to much chakra to use a strong genjutsu and needed enough to control the kyubi and extract it.

zetsu says the Sharingan is a tool and the power to control the ninetails is unlocked when you upgrade it to the m Sharingan so maybe tobi is not good enough at genjutsu you don't really see him ever use high level genjutsu and to catch the 4th hokage it would need to be strong
