The only member that can even pose a threat to Madara Uchiha is Itachi Uchiha, as stated in the manga, the only Akatsuki member that Madara Uchiha was afraid and cautious about was non other than Itachi Uchiha. Itachi Uchiha is the most logical and wise choise.

90% of them are filled with fanboys from both Itachi and Nagato side with dumb comments, My reasoning is better than fanboy wars. Regardless, this thread isn't about who is stronger, it is about who is a better option to use vs Madara Uchiha and the manga says very clearly Itachi Uchiha

Nah I disagree

Nagato is the possess the ultimate doujutus the rinnegan while Itachi has the Mangkeyo sharingan.

Nagato knew Tobi far longer then Itachi knew about Tobi and vice versa. Nagato most likely knows about Tobis jutsus and his plans from reading the Sage of 6 paths tablet.

Nagato has the stamina to go the distance with Tobi, evidence of that can be from watching and reading the fight between Pain and Konoha/Naruto/frogs/Kyuubi.
