Alright, so I'm relatively new to NB. I've been posting and commenting on versus threads and on many other threads as well. Recently, however, I've come across stuff like "Bios", "Kumi", "Sensei", "Training" and like "battles" through threads. Isn't that like .. unpractical? Can't I just use substitution jutsu everytime you perform an attack? (Excluding Genjutsu) Point being..can someone please provide a good explanation of the terms I just listed? Please include process, rules and such. Thank you! :D

Bios: The bio you use when you RP. You create it in the RPG Biography Section, and hope that Caliburn approves it (he may make you edit a few things first, though).

Kumi: A monitary unit used on the base. Has no real purpose, though...

Sensei: A person who will teach you techniques you can use in the RP battles.

Training: The process on which a sensei will train you in techniques you can later use in RP battles.

Battles: Either a full-out fight, or a friendly spar, a battle is an RP fight against another RPer.

It is not impracticle on an RP site, which this is, and no, you can't use subsitution for every attack, as you can only use it so many times a battle, and then some people just plain out say, "No subs".

Need more explination, just ask! :D

Thanks! Well, what is RP? How does the training process take place? What do I do? How do I make a bio? Can I choose any Naruto character? Can it be fictional? How can I get a Sensei? I mean, I know my Naruto characters well, and when it comes to hypothetical situations if I know the rules and my jutsus, I'm too good. Hope it's not too much :$ Thanks again!

Tryna read this;

Though some of those links may be outdated so I took some time to fetch some newer ones for you.

Bio template:
Fill out the template with the character you're wishing to make. Canon(A character within the anime/manga.) nor custom(A self made up one.).

Heres the biography rules;
Which shows you banned characters, the restrictions on certain clans/KGs and requirements to be able to posse them.

For training procces;

Simply pick one of the many threads for an example and see how they do.

To get a sensei; A sensei is normally having a orange name, as me. Which means I'm a sensei. To get training by one you either go to their profile and ask and then simply await a response. Other senseis also might have training application threads in the Konoha Town section where you can apply and wait till it's yours turn. Btw, when asking Senseis on their profiles, be aware it can take time before a response comes, also make sure to read their profile msg. They often say if they are filled with students and whatnot.

Heres an updated sensei/senpai list;

If you might want to know what a senpai is aswell, it's basically one who teaches the Sensei's students when he doesn't have time to get on, etc. Or he might even have his own batch of students while the sensei have another, simply to increase the speed of training for the new people in the RPG.

RP is role-play; pretending to be the character who's bio you've made. May sound lame, but it's fun!

To begin training, you must first have an approved bio, and have found a sensei. You can get a sensor by leaving polite visitor/private messages for them (try VM's first always). But make sure to read their Pofile Message before asking; it may say they're full. As for how you train, basically just follow your sensei's instructions in as much detail as possible.

When you go to the Roleplay Biography Section, there is a thread for you to copy a bio template. Fill everything out in as much detail as possible, and try to read/follow bio rules and guidelines as best you can. You can't have any Naruto character as your bio; there are certain rules that get their own section called Biography Rules. And yes, your bio can be fictional, we call it a custom bio, but make sure to write a good history!

Any more questions?

Also, follow the links Gobi set out for you! They'll help a LOT!

I'm gonna go for the big one here and try to explain the substitution problem. In my eyes, I don't see why substitution would be a bad thing, except in a lot of battles people want to see some action, not subbing all the time. Think of it like the Chuunin Exams where everyone would watch their fight. It would be pretty boring if everyone were only spamming subs, and even then you would be looked down upon because it's all you do. Another reason may be that people can pick the field, so you can't always sub on certain fields, depending on the location since the art of replacement means you have to replace something with yourself. Fighting in a concrete room underground (similar to the Sasuke and Itachi fight) it would be impossible to sub because what can you sub with yourself?

The point is to make it realistic. If you're in a forest with plenty of fallen logs, then you can sub, granted the rules don't state otherwise.

The substituation jutsu is limited to one time per battle, which means that you cannot spam it.
