nagato revived all of the ppl he had killed in konoha because they were recently killed how is it tht he was suposed to revive madara who had been dead for generation
so was nagato able to revive anyone he wishes or the ppl tht were recently killed

wasnt it because he was low on energy that he can only revive the recent dead?

No he can just revive people I guess. It's just that reviving Madara probably would have taken all the energy it took to bring back all of them . Or maybe it's a one time thing like trading your life to bring back someone else. otherwise why didn't he bring back Yahiko?

dunno how to post stuff on but to answer hawaiianmike second part, on ch 449 page 2 konan kinda states or hints that at his current energy lvls he will die using the tech

The technique is both chakra and time depended.Nagato couldn't revive yahiko bcoz he hadn't mastered rinnegan yet and when he did it was too late.

Here konan says "If he uses it now with these chakra levels.." Which means it isn't a one move thing but rather his chakras were too low
Also

Madara comments That finally nagato managed to grow.. and then he was interrupted. I think it means if u master the rinnegan to a certain extend then you can remove the time barrier from the technique which nagato obviously had not

back then he probably couldn't master all of rinnegan paths yet
It's some kind of a plot as to why he didn't revive him afterwards

edit:
this guy makes sense listen to him

True dat. xD

I think its up to skill and rather than a one time deal. Maybe it works like Edo Tensei. They must not be part of the something world.

Original plan was for Tobi to have Nagato revive as soon as Madara had died, but Tobi reneged and took over the project under His new leadership Tobi had a different vision on how to do things, this is what I believe is what happen.

I second this and may explain why Madara was a bit bothered when he was revived via Edo Tensei and why Tobi seemed shocked about his sudden appearance.

this is because he dies when he uses this technique, so why would he resurrect yahiko and then die without realizing his dream. So he turned Yahiko into the deva path so he could always think of his friend
