Kakashi and Gai really equals?

In your opinion do you think these two are really equals? I think they're very close, but in the end if I had to pick I'd give the edge to Gai. I don't think Kakashi can handle Gai if he were to release the seventh gate, and even though Gai is useless afterwards I think he can finish it before he reaches that point.

Kamui is certainly a possibility, but it would have to be early on cause there's no way in hell he will catch Gai once he starts cranking up the speed. But then again Gai uses taijutsu only wich means he needs to touch kakashi so that improves his chances greatly.....damn... now I don't know who to pick. lol

I don't know why people think Gai can beat Kakashi, he knows about the crazy power of the gates. He uses the hiding like a mole tech as soon as gai starts the 6 or 7 gate...

I see them as equals. They both have their clutch weapon, Kakashi to Kamui and Gai to Gates. I think Gai is stronger but at the same time Kakashi is smarter.

It takes more than just physical strength to win a battle.

Gai maybe able to open the 7th Gate but Kakashi would most likely have a plan to counter, probably begin the hide and seek game till Gai gets tired.

To me ether one could win on any given day its 50/50 for ether.

In my opinion, i would say they're equals. Although kakashi might not be able to copy/counter gai's speed with the seventh gate open.

Kakashi can open the gates as well, gai and lee aren't the only ones. I would pick kakashi the sharingan can keep up with Gais speed plus kakashi has good offensive and defensive jutsu, he is also pretty good at long range attacks so he doesn't need to get close if he doesn't want to

Just because he can see it doesn't mean his body will react quick enough to counter. This has been proven time and time again. Hell, I think in one of the very first episodes it was shown when Rock Lee fought Sasuke.

Not easily. But by a basic rule, Gai is good, but against someone with the sharingan and many jutsu for every occasion, and the ability to use the same technique. It doesn't make sense he would win.

Kakashi can use the gates, but he can only open one. lol Also, I think in one of the movies the main villain can use all eight. Not entirely sure about that though.
