Doesn't it depend on how old each of them are? I mean, when Hiruzen defeated the other two Hokages and sealed Orochimaru's arms Enma said that was nowhere near his best. So based on that I think if they were both in their primes Hiruzen would win, but if it was both when they died Minato would win.

Nothing around that proves this. I think Minato was way smarter than the old man, and that may have been his biggest advantage. The little we know of him, shows that it was never an arsenal of jutsus that made him the legend he was, but his ability to efficiently and quickly gain advantage over his enemies. Obviously Hiruzen was a great shinobi, mastered all jutsus in konoha and so on but that would do him little if any good against minato. he would have little time to lay down any suitable strategy to go against minato i think. How he foiled tobi's (maybe well laid) plans and took control of the demon fox away from him in such a short spell might give you some idea. I imagine he(tobi) had some knowledge of who minato was and what his abilities are, but how do you plan for someone who thinks so well (in the heat of battle) on his feet?

It's so hard to say. There isn't enough facts. What we know of Minato was he was extremely skilled in seals invented the Rasengan and the Flying Thunder God, that's basically it. The 3rd Hokage's reputation is that he's learned all the Leaf's ninjutsu yet we've only seen him use Dragon Flame bombs, shadow shurikens, reaper death seal, and his summon Enma. Not much to go on. By reputation the 3rd Hokage wins.
