we donno the details of the fight, but it appears he had to sacrifice his life by doing it. he summoned death god and its a suicide and sort of last ditch jutsu.

Even though I like the 4th better than the first but I would have to say the 4th would win. The 4th could control several bijuus and beat not only the kyuubi but also madara at the same time while the 4th only defeated the kyuubi.

the 1st and 2nd even if they died during the war they are still heros! everyone on that KIA Tombstone in the cemetary desirves just as much respec as the 3rd and 4th hokage! anyone who says otherwise gets to answer to me ... da lawgiver! muhahahaha!!!

No dying in a war is not stupid, but the fact is, if they was all powerful they would'nt have died so easily on the front lines. It means some lucky ninja got a lucky shot in and defeated the great Hokages.

ps2. acc to wikia: "Long after founding Konoha, Hashirama died in battle, leaving behind his younger brother who inherited the Hashirama's title and thus became the Second Hokage." - since u r the one to come up with the point, plz give me the reference in the manga, where kishi said 1st died in a battle. THERE WAS NEVER ANY MENTION OF THAT IN THE ENTIRE MANGA, only this point proves (those who think wikia is authentic) wikia is fanmade fiction, they mix manga, databook and their own imagination.

orochimaru attempted to revive the fourth in the battle with sarutobi but it was stopped premature. sarutobi himself said that if minato was revived, the game would have been over. with that said, the flash gets my vote.

killed in battle?? anyway the quote above seems fictitious to me. i will tell why later when i have time. FYI DB is not considered canon, its secondary and sometimes has contradictory stuff. bizarre stat. sometimes kishi writes stuff just for the sake of writing and fun. for example he wrote in DB 3, pain had all those piercings just to feel more pain.

"He's Akatsuki's leader, so he has to look cool at least to a certain extent, but I also wanted him to look dangerous. Since his name is "Pain", I decided to put some piercings on his body. Kind of like a person who gives pain to himself".

hanzou was probally the 1st or the 2nd storngest and the 3rd hokage probaly second strognset
