Actually kakashi and zabuza have only used large water jutsus in the presence of a large body of water. Only Tobirama and kisame have ever been shown to be able to use large-scale water attacks without any water present.

sounds good, but can't gaara make sand litterally anywhere there is dirt, or rock under the ground? Either way it takes time, time that he won't have against itachi who likes to end battles quickly.
