It’s a fine day in Konoha as the people in the village do their usual thing but with extra effort since the village festival is approaching. The villagers do some decorations for the festival.
Naruto Uzumaki, the unpredictable knuckle head is on his way to Tsunade’s office but before he heads to the hokage’s office, Naruto stopped by to Ichiraku ramen for breakfast “Today is a busy day for everybody. I wonder what’s going on?”
The ramen guy got his attention from Naruto’s question “You don’t know? After 2 days, it’s the village festival so people do some preparations. I’ll do some preparations as well since customers will increase because of the festival”.
“Really? I don’t know, so its festival again…” Naruto signed, festival isn’t as fun as doing missions.
“You’re not gonna join the festival? Do you have an upcoming mission?” The ramen guy ask.
“Yeah, I have a misson, I’ll be going to see granny Tsunade after eating my favourite ramen” Naruto answered.
“It’s too bad, the festival is fun. In your looks, seems like you’re not interested at all.” the ramen guy served Naruto’s favourite ramen. “Eat up, I’m sure you need energy for your mission.”
Naruto delighted as he saw his ramen ready. “I’ve been craving to eat ramen since last night, finally. Itadakimasu!”
While eating his favourite ramen, Sakura suddenly popped in Naruto’s head “Yeah right! The festival! Of course I have to join”
“What? I thought you’re not interested at all? You changed your mind already?” The ramen guy was confused on Naruto’s sudden change of mind.
“Of course I do love Konoha’s festival. I didn’t say I’m not interested” Naruto eat his ramen in a rush and pay his bill and off to go to the Hokage’s office.
“Hey! You didn’t answer my question!” The ramen guy shouted but Naruto already left without giving him an answer. “That Naruto, he’s really unpredictable.”
Naruto run as he headed to Tsunade’s office. “Yes, yes! Why didn’t I think about it? Its festival, I got the chance to ask Sakura for a date. I’m sure I’ll see her at granny Tsunade’s office. I’ll ask her to come with me. Anyway, the mission is just a rank B. We can finish the mission in just a day and we still have one day off then we can have our date.”
Naruto is excited thinking about him dating Sakura in the festival. Finally he reached Tsunade’s office. He opened the door beaming and shouted “Sakura-chan are you here already?”
“Huh?!” Naruto is shocked as he saw Shikamaru, Neji and Hinata at Tsunade’s office.
“Naruto, you’re so noisy” The blonde hokage was annoyed at Naruto’s grand entrance. Everybody’s looking at Naruto.
/Naruto?!/ Shikamaru stare with surprised, he didn’t expect to see Naruto.
/Naruto? I wonder if he’s purpose in coming is the same as ours?/ Neji shifted with a questioning look at Naruto.
“N-Naruto kun!” Hinata is the only one who mentioned Naruto’s name after entering Tsunade’s office.
“What’s going on? Where’s Sakura-chan? and Kakashi sensei? and Yamato taisho and Sai? I thought there’s a mission for me? Did they left without me?” Naruto ignores Neji, Hinata and Shikamaru and go straight at Tsunade’s table, demanding for an answer.
“Naruto, there’s mission for you but you won’t be going with your usual team mates. Team 7 is disperse for now and I gave them their own missions where they are more needed” Tsunade answered Naruto in a matter-a-fact tone.
“What?! But..but..I need Sakura-chan now, I have to ask her something” Naruto was dismayed not to see Sakura in a time he mostly wanted to see her.
“Naruto, Sakura already left yesterday. If you have something to ask her, wait until she comes back” Tsunade answered.
Naruto sighed “Sakura-chan should be here.”
“Anyway” Tsunade started to talk to change the topic. The 3 young shinobi stood up straight waiting for the hokage’s order. Naruto on the other hand frowned but shifted his attention to listen at Tsunade’s direction.
“Naruto Uzumaki, Shikamaru Nara, Neji Hyuga and Hinata Hyuga, the 4 of you will have a mission together” Tsunade continued.
“What? So that’s the reason why Shikamaru, Neji and Hinata are here” Naruto looked at his batch mates, still his face didn’t change at all.
/N-Naruto-kun and I will be together in a mission/ Hinata gazed at Naruto, though she knew how disappointed Naruto is, but still she’s happy she can able to do a mission with Naruto.
“Yes, I have a B rank mission to all of you. I’m sure you guys can handle this well” Tsunade checked the papers on her table before she started to tell about their mission. “A young princess lived in a small village called Caloria ask for body guards. They find ninjas to be a useful body guard for the princess and they chose Konoha. There will be a grand celebration in their village tomorrow night and they wanted ninjas to help in guarding their princess. Someone wanted to abduct the young princess but they didn’t know the main reason.”
“Why they didn’t know the reason? And how sure are they that there are people who wanted to kidnap their princess specifically in the celebration?” Neji wanted more detailed information.
“A servant from Caloria who ask for help told us that their princess has been almost kidnapped three times and mostly, the kidnappers disguise themselves as servants of the princess. They’re certain the kidnappers will try to abduct their princess during the celebration since their disguise will be more effective since there are many people. So to prevent sudden commotion and to be sure the princess is safe, they wanted to hire ninjas during the celebration. They didn’t know mainly the reason behind kidnapping their princess since the village doesn’t have any enemies as what they believe but the servants of the princess think the purpose might be to trade the princess for money” Tsunade answered.
“It’s a lame mission for me, as I expect in a B rank mission” Naruto scratched his head, he didn’t expect his mission is just to guard a lady.
“Stop saying that Naruto, a mission is a mission, so you’ll do it since I’ve ordered you” Tsunade expects Naruto’s reaction.
“Anyway, I’ll give you the map, this will guide you to the location of the village. They’re expecting your arrival this day. I also informed them about your appearance so they can recognize all of you as the ninjas I sent to guard their princess.” Tsunade gave the map to Shikamaru.
“Alright, so after the celebration, the mission is done for us, am I right, Hokage-sama?” Shikamaru ask.
“Yes, that’s our only deal. Go back after the mission is done” Tsunade answered.
Tsunade looked at Naruto, his face still the same, a dismayed look since everything didn’t went well according to his plan. “Don’t worry Naruto, stop thinking about Sakura for now, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this mission” Tsunade smirked while looking at Naruto.
“And why? It’s a totally lame mission to me” Naruto said. There's no special in doing missions like before when team 7 is together.
“Because in this mission, you’ll be the captain” Tsunade smiled at Naruto, the blonde hokage proudly inform the whole team.
“Really? Me? I’m the captain?” Naruto’s grinned, at last he can finally do a mission as the team captain.
“Naruto is our team captain?” Neji ask Tsunade.
“Yes, in this mission, I appoint Naruto to be your team captain” Tsunade convinced Neji.
/Naruto-kun is our captain?/ Hinata smiled, she’s happy to see Naruto beaming from the good news.
/Oh well, it’s a B rank mission, and we’ll only guard a princess. Maybe Tsunade-sama wants to give Naruto a chance to be a leader/ Shikamaru smiled while looking at Naruto, he’s glad Naruto finally changed his mood.
“Go now, I’ll be expecting all of you’ll be here before konoha’s festival” Tsunade ordered her ninjas to start their mission.
Tsunade and Shizune are now alone in the office, Shizune stared at her hokage and Tsunade noticed Shizune’s gaze “What’s the matter Shizune?”
“I didn’t expect you’ll allow Naruto to be the leader of the team, do you have plans?” Shizune ask.
Tsunade sighed and look at the hokage statues through the glass window of her office particularly at Naruto’s father “Naruto wanted to be a hokage someday right? The hokage is the leader of the village and everyone in his village is under his control, if that is his dream then becoming a leader of a group is a stepping stone to be an affective hokage. We’ll see how he’ll handle his group.”
“But why did you assigned Shikamaru, Neji and Hinata to be his group mates?” Shizune ask again.
“Actually, the mission is a B rank but depending on the circumstances, the mission may become A rank. The servant who asks for our help didn’t know who are the people who wanted to abduct their princess so I chose Shikamaru and Neji since they’re very reliable. As for Hinata, she’s a strong ninja but she needs a lot of experience. I’m sure she can learn many things in this mission. Finally, I also chose Naruto because the enemy is unknown, Naruto can be a great help. The four of them is perfect to do the mission.” Tsunade convince Shizune not to worry.
