most feared characters?

For me, the one that was most feared character in the manga was Nagato. He was so much feared that they began adulating him like a God.

Madara should be feared but given that all this time, mostly everyone believed he was dead, the fear isn't so accentuated. Many shinobis will have refuse fighting for Shinobi Alliance if they feared Madara so much.

Kyuubi and tailed beasts are really characters, so they are not in the list. They will top the list surely otherwise.


Minato, Itachi, Orochimaru and 3rd Raikage were definitely feared.

Kabuto may be a powerful but he fails to incite fear. His creepiness pales in front of Orochimaru.

For me, the top list is like that:

3. Itachi Uchiha
4. 3rd Raikage
5. Orochimaru
6. Madara Uchiha
7. Gaara (mostly everyone was scared when he was a kid)
8. Sasuke Uchiha
9. Naruto Uzumaki (I'm not joking and if you think I am, ask Zetsu and Kabuto about it)
10. Kakashi (in almost every arc, some new character recognize him and respect him. He may be less strong that many others but he is feared though)
11. Sasori
12. Kakuzu
13. Kabuto
14. Kin-Gin bros
15. Danzo

Madara was known as a prodigy like his brother and everyone knows he is extremely strong (probably stronger than Itachi). Minato is the Yellow Flash, who would not be scared? xd Also in my opinion Kabuto isn't feared, but if I saw a man with snake-like skin I would be scared.

Saying "most feared" doesn't necessarily have to mean villains. In fact, I'd include Minato on that list.

Enemy ninjas were told outright to run on sight if they saw the Yellow Flash.

I was going to say that you should list Pain in the most feared but then I realized that opponents never usually even have time to fear Pain. They just disappear before they can even understand what happened to them.

They're a bit low cause' they were not feared by all and their "secret weapon thingy" became a bit lame and irritating on the long run. I liked them initially but afterwards, I just wanted them off. xD

Also, they will have been higher in the list if the Akatsuki didn't have such a fear established around them and their organization. Akatsuki = The most fearful thing after Tailed Beast according to me in the manga.

But in different times, different characters are feared.
in the start of series, hashirama senju and madara uchiha are feared.
Itachi was feared by even elite jonins of konoha, and probably others villages too.
Third kazekage was feared for his iron sands.
Sasori was feared as sasori of the red sand.
Orochimaru was feared as a worldwide criminal.
Hanzo was worldwide famous and feared, especially who fought him.
Pain was feared in amegakure and respected as god.
Minato was feared by enemy nations and said to run on his sight.
Tsunade was feared for her medical and raw power.

And.....Chouji was feared by asuma for his eating habits!!! LOL!!!
