Night had crept it's way over the gun store, darkness consumed every inch inside. Zombie could barely see his hand in front of his face. The only sense the darkness was detrimental to was vision though. They could still hear the moaning, and the hands clawing at the walls. The smell was almost as bad, decaying flesh accompanied with uncontrollable bowel movements.
"What if they get through?" Lawliet whimpered, you could almost hear her trembling in the dark.
None of them could sleep, even though they wanted to. The sound of the plate glass door creaking under the weight of countless zombies was too much to withstand. The intensity of the situation was almost overwhelming.
Miss Faust attempted to alleviate the stress by checking around and making sure everybody was okay. As a nurse, she was diligent, as a warrior she was a handicap.
As if by clockwork, rain began to pelt down as well. A bright flash, the interior suddenly illuminated, if only momentarily. As the light faded, a crack of thunder rippled through the area.
When they thought things couldn't get any worst, their perimeter was breached. The glass finally gave way. It hadn't shattered, but it buckled under the weight, and a corner was pushed in enabling an undead hand to reach inside their sanctuary.
Zerabitu quickly responded, her chainsaw mauling the hand, obliterating muscle flesh and bone freeing it from the assailant. It dropped to the ground and continued to move if only for a few moments.
That would only be the start of an extremely long night.
The heavy wrought iron back door rattled and reverberated with undying fists pounding on it. The glass in the front was pushed in and peeled out. The group continued to reinforce their defenses and attempt to add to their barricades.
"Why can't they just go away? Make it all stop!" Lawliet became hysterical.
It only seemed as though minutes had passed since the first breach of their defenses, but soon they realized by the song of bird and slow crawling illumination of a sunrise that hours had passed that night.
The rain had also stopped, and it seemed light things would be getting brighter. Until their barricade was breached, and a zombie began to crawl through.
Zombie rushed at the, er, zombie and struck it in the face with the butt of his shotgun. He didn't want to shoot inside as that would destroy all of their hearing.
Zombie relaxed, and began to trying to force an object into the hole when the zombie he had struck resuscitated and bit him. Zombie cried out in sudden anguish, seeing a set of teeth sinking into his abdomen.
A screw driver pierced the top of the zombie's head, as Zerabitu helped free Zombie from it's clutches.
"Stay back, Zerabitu, any moment I'll become one of them." Zombie spoke softly.
Zerabitu didn't budge. Instead she began attempting to apply bandages to his wounds.
"I said stay away! I'm going to become one of those!" Zombie shouted this time.
"You don't know that. Nobody knows what makes these things the way they are." Zerabitu responded as she finished off dressing his wounds.
Miss Faust now attempted to reason with her, "We have all seen first hand that people who are bitten will turn."
"That doesn't mean he will change. He isn't going to change see, I bandaged his wound." Zerabitu seemed to be denying the obvious fates of one bitten.
"Hey uh, he's turned. You may want to ..." Nocturnal stopped talking, turned, and ran.
Zombies eyes had changed, as he then turned on Zerabitu and bit her, his teeth digging into her neck. She decided to use her final moments restraining Zombie the zombie. As long as he was with her, he couldn't go after the others.
Nocturnal and Flaw found an access hatch to the roof. They hadn't seen it that night, as it was so dark. Now though, it was a viable escape. Flaw and Nocturnal waiting for Lawliet and Miss Faust to climb up the ladder first, before they followed suit.
From the roofs, they were able to move over to the next building, then continue running. The strip mall continued for a few hundred meters where the zombies would thin out.
Unfortunately, they're worst nightmare would be brewing in the gun store behind them.
Two zombies, Zombie and Zerabitu, began merging into one super Zombitu. Before long it had multiplied in size by more than ten times, tearing through the roof of the building. It was a four armed two headed zombie menace.
Nocturnal risked a look behind them, and regretted it. The colossal Zombitu was climbing onto the roof as well, obviously to pursue them.
Without hesitation, Nocturnal jumped off the roof into the bed of a pick up, followed by Flaw, then Miss Faust.
Lawliet was about to jump, when something had stopped her. Tentacles were wrapped around her ankles. Tentacles they traced all the way back to the Zombitu.
"Jump, Lawliet, just jump!" Nocturnal shouted to her.
As she jumped, Nocturnal and Flaw grabbed her arms, and began pulling.
"Miss Faust, get into the cab, and try to find the keys. If you can, start driving this thing." Flaw yelled.
Miss Faust hastily climbed out of the bed and into the cab. The keys were actually still in the ignition. She began to turn them, the engine struggled.
Nocturnal and Flaw struggled to get Lawliet into the truck bed, Zombitu struggled to get Lawliet in it's belly. It was a genuine Lawliet tug of war.
Finally, the engine started to turn. Combustion occurred, pistons moved, and so did the wheels. The tires screeched, and the bed swayed as the vehicle suddenly lurched forward. Zombitus tentacles couldn't take the tension any longer and broke off, freeing Lawliet from his grasp.
Lawliet landed in the truck bed with a thud as the vehicle ripped out onto the road. Not only was Miss Faust a good nurse, she was apparently a way better driver than Flaw.
Yet, Zombitu wouldn't stop until it was fed. Zombitu jumped through the air surprisingly fast for such a gargantuan zombie, and moved at ridiculous speeds too.
The chase had begun. Before long, Zombitu was behind their truck. The truck was already being pushed to it's limits, yet Zombitu kept gaining on them.
"Shoot, can't you drive this thing faster, Miss Faust?" Flaw yelled from the truck bed.
"It's going as fast as it can, try shooting at them!" Miss Faust yelled back.
Suddenly Flaw felt a crack in his face, Nocturnal had backhanded him. "No backseat driving bitch."
Flaw gave Nocturnal a look that sent fear down his spine. "You don't need a warning to never do that again."
Nocturnal only nodded.
Flaw turned around, standing up and hip firing his AK into the Zombitu. The bullets that hit wouldn't even leave a dent.
Flaw again started shouting to Miss Faust, "Shooting it isn't going to have an effect, we have to lose it! Isn't there a tunnel near here?"
Miss Faust's eyes narrowed, as she pressed the acceleration pedal down even harder. The truck wouldn't go faster. She let off the acceleration pedal and made a sudden and extremely violent turn. Tires squealed on tarmac, melting and kicking up a smoke screen. She then kicked her foot down on the accelerator again and the tires bit the pavement and began spinning momentarily before pushing the truck forward once more.
Zombitu barreled by, using it's truck sized hands to drag itself to a stop. Zombitu couldn't handle stopping so abruptly and tumbled over into a roll.
The truck had already sped off.
We had escaped this time. But we knew the Zombitu would be hunting us wherever we went.
