I actually read everything you said and I agree completely. Itachi made his bed, and now he's gonna have to lay in it. There's never going to be any fix to what he did to his brother's life so all he can do is try to make it an ounce better. ++ing your rep. ^-^
he had some rough methods but still planned to even rectify it with the ultimate genjutsu koto amkatsesui(wrong spelling), so he tried his best but did kno that kabuto would summon him. It is not hard for someone to just kill their younger bro and itachi seemed like he had a really good bond with him but even a ninja like him could not seperate his feelings, he is human after all sometimes emotions get the best of you and i think that is the case of itachi. and i do agree that he was a little harsh later on when he met him but he can't act differently than he did on the night of the massacre, so i guess he just played along but was a little too harsh.

And also when the 3rd Hokage died Itachi showed up to protect him from danzo and the other elders from killing him, Itachi him self was in a hell worse then sasuke.

Itachi was a great a ninja who sacrificed his life for the sake of the village and also couldn't bring himself to kill his younger brother

I love itachi but i see your point.
However Itachi left his brother because he loved him and he had planned ahead as he planned their fight and the hawk in narutos eyes (if things were to get out of control) However despite being an amazing ninja, even he couldnt tell the future and even he didnt know that madara would survive the amaterasu he planted in sasuke eyes in order to kill him.
After he took all these precautions you really wana blame him for what happened to sasuke?

Itachi cannot be compared to other shinobi;hes genius and talented.The only mistake Itachi has ever made was letting sasuke live after that horrified night.Because of this decision which is considered like a mistake,people like you keep destroy the reputation of Itachi as both a Brother and as a shinobi.

I totally agree with u on every part. I just now join this NB to comment on your opinion. People just need to stop taking this so seriously and enjoy the manga. Personally I like Itachi but u and Sly make great points about Itachi and his life. Wish more people were more sane and relaxed about this thread unlike major fans. Again liked your opinion the best out of anyone elses. so far.WOW I just made an account just to respond to this shi* cause this is just ridiculous, Now for the guys that responded to this post and defending Itachi should have never posted anything, cause you guys only fed those people who hate itachi, you guys gave them what they want, some people to acknowledge them, Why?? cause after all your defending and actually making good points ( note that the good points are more in quantities and in importance) anyway after all that they still hold on to their ONE single point, so let it be, let them write whatever they want, IT'S THEIR opinion, GOD created us deferentially ( in the way we think, the way we talk, and how we look at things from our point of view, ..... etc) SO don't say i'll fight you, OMG you're wrong, everyone believes in something, without that we're just animals. SO finishing this paragraph I would like to say, that this guy put his opinion with notes that supports it. I come from a country where we are raised like soldiers at age 18 we all join the army for 4 to 6 years and anyone who liked can stay and serve!! WHAT my point is that let's say you serve your country( USA for example) and they are going to attack a peaceful country ( here USA is the bad guy ) and remember this is only an example!!! anyway so yeah they ordered you to do the attack do you : 1) do what you were ordered EVEN if it was WRONG? or 2) you disobey your commander and face death, or even help the good guys? if your answer was number one, then Its your choice you wouldn't understand why Itachi did that, you are not different form the devil and his demons, WHY?! well they serve the devil doing everything GOD says not to do and they don't stop, they go from destroying everything they can to manipulating people/ presidents / kings to do the unforgivable, and if your answer was 2) then you'd understand why Itachi did what he did, but even his love to his brother which here ( IS one of the demons as the example i showed earlier) no one actually put a thought that if sasuke was raised by the uchiha clan he would turn out to be a cold blood killer, which Itachi knew ( as he said : there is no hope left for this clan ) NOW i'm gonna see most of you saying SEE that's where he failed and i will shut them oFF by saying again (CAN YOU SEE THE FUTURE ) as we know the manga is not over yet and there are theories of sasuke and naruto fighting madara together, SO ITACHI DIDN't fail (YET)!!! even if he asked help from naruto ( does it make you a looser or a failure if you ask help from someone? )!!! anyway that's as far as this goes........ ( and remember this is only my point of view )!!!!!! don't hate.
And for the final part of this note ( hehe a long note ), let's take this to the actual thing ( THIS IS ANIME ) meaning it's fiction, So you guys focused on what KISHI did about the families and raising children,,, he made naruto and orphan and garra to hate his father and minato to put a monster in his kid, which lead to this :- This is a fighting anime not a DRAMA, and again WOW you guys focused on those things and forgot about the flames that come out of their mouths and KISAME ( looking like shark ) WTF!!! and sasuke calling thunder from the sky, and itachi throwing BLACK fire out of his eye, SERIOUSLY if you're gonna say we will not focus on these things( the unbelievable things) THEN DON't focus on the dramatic things BECAUSE THIS IS NOT REALLLITY, i mean they don't have cars but they have super DNA computers. WHAT i'm saying is this anime is the CLOSER of all fantasy/action ANIME ( NOTE: THIS IS THE BEST ANIME EVER)!! now please don't think that i'm attacking you or trying to put a fight here, i'm just saying what's on mind ( actually i have more but this is enough) but i had to say this because you were fighting for nothing, as I said everyone thinks deferentially and i respect everyone who posted anything here..

I agree that Itachi failed as a shinobi, but not as a brother. A family member does the best they can do, and whether it works out or not, it's the thought that counts. However, Itachi failed miserably as a shinobi. His mission was to assassinate his clan in order to protect the Leaf. If leaving Sasuke alive wasn't enough, making him a hateful bastard was.
When Naruto last saw Itachi alive, Itachi mentioned that Sasuke was a "blank slate" and could be "coloured in many ways." This was not the case, though. By the time Sasuke left the village, all he cared about was revenge. He would not have returned to the Leaf even if he hadn't learned the truth.
He was a fool to think Sasuke could be consumed by hatred for so many years and then just go home like nothing happened. Itachi died an idiot.

As a shinobi Itachi was excellent. He is exactly what a shinobi should be cold and emotionless, but as a brother he has to be the worst. With everything he has done to Sasuke like killing his entire family putting him in tsukiyomi twice telling him to hate him and seek revenge then telling him the means for which to do it by killing your best friend. Yeah I can see where prople get the idea he was a great brother. Hey maybe we should get to run a day school.

Honestly, i think it was a plan A and plan B gone horribly wrong with the main purpose of killing madara which itchi ALREADY knew was trouble from the beginning.
Plan A: Keep sasuke alive by fueling his hatred for him and there by making him the only viable candidate for his EMS. Itachi would kill sasuke take his eyes and stand a greater chance of killing madara. Itchi has said already that if you dont have the same eyes as your opponent, the one with the upgrade wins!
Plan B: If infact sasuke is stronger than him (which he was) he would be able to get his eyes and use his new EMS to protect konoha and beat madara. That was a gamble tho and we all know jhow that came out.

S*** he killed his mom dad and whole clan! that was an unbearable burden but he did it anyway for the sake of peace and given other circumstance he would have killed sasuke without blinking to keep peace.

He had Sasuke in mind he needed someone to exact revenge on him for his clan. Yes his clan was up to no good, but that doesn't the whole clan should be dishonored in Itachi's view. By doing what he did to Sasuke he was trying to ensure that his clan would be honored by an act of vengence. That's why he left Sasuke alive not out of sense of brotherly affection, but a need to restore clan honor, or He would have used Shisui's eye when they fought and committed suicide afterwards. My point is he needed a tool not a brother or he would not have pleaded with the Hokage to spare Sasuke and threatened the third's advisor's with the release of village secrets to keep him alive after the massacre.
