I couldn't tell you where exactaly but I can say that Oro was his sensei. I remember the flashback clearly. Tsunade came running in and Jiraiya stopped her and the three (Orochimaru, Jiraiya, and Tsunade) were in a dark room and a bloody sheet (I'm pretty sure it was bloody) was placed over the dead body and Orochimaru said that if she looked at it she probably wouldn't even recognize the body the way it was and it was stated that he was blown up on the war front. That was when Tsunade proposed that every shinobi squad have a medic, to the council and that's when she met Dan who shared the same view. They fall in love and Dan is given the necklace of the first Hokage by Tsunade and later on in battle he was bloody and dying and Tsunade was trying to save him but she couldn't and that's when she was discharged from the war because she developed a fear of blood. I don't know if you needed all that just adding it on just in case.

It was never said that oro was his sensei. Oro was there. Navaki was too eager and rushed into battle. Oro saw what he was doing and ran after him to stop him but, it was of no use and he was already caught in the explosion. That's all..

Oro's own parent's death, Nanvaki's death seem to have affected Oro's choices later in the series and his obsession to live forever.. he didn't want to be there one moment and gone next..

To whom it's directed? OP or me?

I just rechecked the manga. Manga is the canon and it doesn not detail Nawaki or Oro much. Anime details Oro's personality ( i love that part). But even you accepted that it may ssem but it's not confirmed that he was his sensei or anything. Oro also tried to save Dan. He tried to be their back up.

He also though Itachi was in danger and tried to save him while he was just traning- resulting oro's obsession with sharingan.

He still may be his sensei ... as far as I remember, genin team is made of 3 genins and 1 jounin ... Oro is jounin, anko genin,maybe nawaki and the third is unknown ... makes sense
