How did kakashi get a mangekyou?

I know how he got the sharingan....but how did he get mangekyou..he didn't kill his best friend!!!!did he...If you have some sort of a guess say it please...

yea the only people 2 unlock b4 itachi and sasuke were madara and izuna. not enough 2 go on 2 find ALL possible ways of unlocking it if u ask me. sasuke and kakashi probibly found other ways which u stated.

he used it when he faced Itachi in Gara rescue arc and itachi was surprised and said " you couldn't have.." or something similar..

Kakashi saw it the first time when itachi used it against him in KOnoha.. that's why I said he copied it- I know it's a speculation and rest of what I said were jokes but I was half serious..

no, the key point here is that he did copy it. he jus used his past emotions to use it. like i sed, he is always late coz he visits the epitaph all the time. he has very fresh emotions about the ppl he has lost, but he wouldnt have been able to awaken it unless he'd seen it first to copy, since its a bloodline technique of the uchiha.

also he met itachi back in the original series too. i reckon thats when he copied it. jus took a while to weaponise it coz he's not an uchiha.
