lmaooo all you minato lovers! if the CREATOR of the series stated that Hiruzen is the greatest Hokage then there's nothing to debate lol! he has created a fictional universe to us and when he says something that's final so lol at all you debaters
Troll much? Why are they lovers because they have an opinion? I think Minato is better but how does that make me a "minato lover"...
Anyways, Hiruzen didn't master all the jutsus, he had knowledge of all of them. There's a difference there. enough people stated quotes that showed Hiruzen to think of Minato as a better Shinobi... There's enough proof of this in what the people before me said...
It isn't the case of which you like the most but which is strongest. And that no one can debate since Kishi has stated who is strongest. Get it?
You can't have an opinion about that sort of thing 'cause it's Kishi's universe! Same as saying that you think that there is no offside in football when clearly it says in the regulations there is one. So stop with the proof gathering if Kishi has already said what he thinks.

I like Minato more, but the third was really a better Hokage. He was extremely old and was a beast. Imagine him younger/in better health. The guy is a beast. Sorry 4th, but the third has my vote.
Third knew more jutsu (Knowledge, plus showed his uses of some of them). Minato knew more sacred/powerful jutsu (and made Rasengan), but Third knew them better all around. Minato is a pure beast, but Third is really awesome when you think about it too.

I VOTED FOR THE FOURTH HOKAGE.
My reason for that is that he made a bigger impact on the Leaf Village than Hiruzen did.
Minato saved the village from the 9 tailed fox and Madara. If he were not there to combat the two the village would look like it did when Pain attacked it.
The third Hokage was the wisest and the most knowledgable out of all the Hokages.
He knew all the secret jutsu in the leaf village and could use them.Ex: He was able to counter Orochimaru's IWR so he must of knew how to use it.Sarutobi was the best overall well balanced Hokage IMO because he could use a variety of jutsu at any given time just like Kakashi. He has a virtually indestructible weapon Adamantine Staff which is King Enma transformed which can withstand a slice from the Sword of Kusanagi.
I think if Sarutobi would have killed Orochimaru back when he was experimenting on children or when Orochimaru attacked the village he would have surely got my vote because that is a feat similar to finding and killing Bin Laden.
Minato just had more hardcore jutsu while Sarutobi just had a wider variety of jutsu.
Even Orochimaru mocked Sarutobi with his weak jutsu and feeble attemts to kill him.
Sarutobi would have been polished off by Oro if he hadn't resorted to the sealing technique that Minato left behind for him. I mean Minato only has one Ninjutsu move that we have all saw and thats Rasengan and that outranks all of Sarutobi's Ninjutsu.
Im sure if Sarutobi were in his prime he would have been able to defeat Orochimaru and Minato but thats not the case since he is old and weak.I mean Hiruzen gave up the title of Hokage to Minato before he was even done his term.
So to bring this to a close no matter what Kishimoto says Minato was the better Hokage.

He is the reason for Sasuke's vendetta.Sarutobi was the Professor no doubt but that only means he had great knowledge, and as for his title of God od Shinobi that is quite an overstatement because that title is claimed by the SO6Ps or by Nagato.

now please be compleately honest do you think Hiruzen could have done what Minato did and save the village from Kyubi AND Madara (and he was younger back then); he had a whole leaf jounin batallion to back him up but it looked he was praying for Minato to come and he did come and took care of both alone

Iruka was teaching kids who were not ready to take the Hokage seriosly. U_U
I do not underestimate the third but he himself told Oro that a shinobi's strenth doesn't dpend on the number of jutsu's he knows. Oro was obsessed with learning and collecting as many jutsus as he could and succeeded to an extent yet he was ultimately defeated. So philosopher Sarutobi proved right.
Minato pwned Madara even though he was taken by surprise and had every odd against him, while Madara prabably had everything planned out for sometime awaiting for the right moment( seeing that that's how he works). If madara couldn't compete FTG with his teleport tech Sarutobi couldn't dogde it easily either.
Sarutobi made Minato Hokage and retired in his lifetime- because he blieved in him.
Don't counter my points anyone - remember the OP said no debate.

I agree there is really nothing he could have done about it. And I have been thinking about it there is no possible way that he could have learned every jutsu in Konoha. I think that that is an exaggeration, the databook shows him having only two elemental affinities so right there anything that requires lightning, or water, or wind is ruled out. After that what about rasengan? I'm sure he didn't know that or medical jutsu or anything else like that. What his nickname probably meant was that he knew alot of jutsu but then so does Kakashi yet is he the strongest Naruto character ever?
And as to respond to the people saying Kishi said that I think that interview was a fake I read somewhere. And for the people saying " Iruka said he was the strongest" who cares, he is a weak character inside of the manga. Plenty of times we have heard people say others are the strongest ever and it rarely turns out to be the case. You remember when ten-ten said Neji was the best of the Konoha 11? Hiruzen may be good but he is not "God", nor is he the strongest.
and @onestepahead about your comment that Kishi said so. even if that happened so what? How many times have we seen Kishi contradict himself? He writes or says something early on only to change his mind and say something completely different. It's what he does.
How come all the Hiruzen fanboys have to say is 'Kishi said so' or he knows all the jutsu when he obviously doesn't know all the jutsu in Konoha. Argue against me with logic please. And back it up with facts like I did about the third's affinities being earth and fire.
