A question regarding Kakashi.

I apologise if this thread has already been made.

I've been re-watching Shippuden, and only just noticed this. In episode 4, Kakashi uses earth, water, and fire element techniques during his match against Naruto and Sakura - despite being the copy ninja, does he need the appropriate affinity to use those techniques, or does it not matter due to his Sharingan?

I'm curious because as far as I know, Sasuke has only ever been able to use fire and lightning techniques - even though he has a Sharingan too.

Rather than just assume that the affinity is needed, I wanted to check. With Kakashi's lightning affinity too, that would bring him up to four. Granted he's an exceptional ninja, but most people don't have more than two, do they?

well, his sharingan copied the hands seals of the one who uses the technique that is why he was able to copy it..meaning experiences taught him of the techniques. sasuke on the other hand lacks this point that is why he has not copied anything beyond what was shown to him or taught to him....kakashi fought so many battles with different chakra natured user..aside from that when he uses a certain chakra nature which is not his affinity for example water, he has to be near the water..that is why he stepped on the water when he used the water style technique....

Nope and by the way, you are right about most people having two. Mei Terumi, the Mizukage has three! Water, earth, and fire. She combines water and fire for boil, and earth and fire for lava. It's awesome! Of course, Nagato and the Sage of the Six Paths are the only people known to have mastered all five.

What about that woman who used the kiss of death? Perhaps using the term "mastered" isn't appropriate in her case, but she still had all five ;P

His affinity is for lightning, but because of his sharingan he is able to use Earth, water, and fire (anime) as well.

it's a question of talent in my opinion. 3rd hokage was said to have mastered all the jutsus in the leaf, including all the elemental ones i presume.

not master, but he had knowledge of every jutsu.

If i remember correctly he also showed Naruto he could also make the rasengan. So he can use all five elements, i guess?

An affinity for a type of chakra nature isn't needed for training it just helps knowing what style of chakra nature comes easiest. Like there shouldn't be a reason why naruto couldn't learn earth style, but its easiest for him to learn wind type techniques.Sauskes has the same lightening style affinity as Kakashi, but could already use fire style type juitsu. Because if was trained how to mold the chakra and the correct handseals for that type of juitsu.

Itachi has 2 He has been seen using water as well. Remember when we were first introduced to Itachi he used a water clone that exploded, then another water based attack he used to attack Kakashi with.

But the sharingan has been known to copy any technique. I have no idea as to why they only use two though. Don't think they need any more though.

The regular rasangan is normal chakra combined with shape manipulation. There's no hasn't been a person to do so except Naruto.

i forgot about that. but that doesn't solve the mystery here. if sasuke can use more than two, why doesn't he? i don't see any reason not to use other elements regardless of how strong he is. it'll only make him stronger and more versatile.

maybe from the beginning, obito had a special variant of sharingan that has a stronger copying ability? just like shisui's special sharingan which could control other's mind. ofc this is just a speculation.

That would make sense, since every sharingan is different. Could have been Obito the copy Ninja. But now its Kakashi.

Where would obito's special mangekyou sharingan come in? not saying it is an elemental (it's clearly not) but im just wondering how that came about
