master of iai means that you don`t let you opponent make any ninjutsu, because all he needs is for the opponent to try and make a seal, that will give a master of iai the openin for an attack that will most likly kill!

I think everone has misunderstood him. he said if anyone knew what this WAS not what it IS. He's asking if anyone knew what iai was prior to Mifune using it :/ so much hate in the world U_U

Yeah as people have said, Iai is the art of drawing the katana from the sheath at lightning-speed and resheathing it. I was wondering how Kishi would have samurai face ninjutsu, and that's his answer right there.

Know what this reminds me of? Kenshin's battojutsu (same thing). Reminds of how Kenshin would strike and draw from his sheath so rapidly the opponent never saw it coming. Guess we know how Kenshin vs Hanzo would go now.

Lol I'm sorry, I have no idea what this means. Could you elaborate? Iai has a fixed definition, it can't change just because Mifune uses it. Maybe I'm misunderstanding.

It just means drawing a sword very quick. It's a common term for swordsmanship, especially katana. It does not only apply to Mifune. For instance Roronoa Zoro from OP has several techniques that that require Iai like his Lion's Song or Rashomon.

A bit off-topic, but...it's nice and all that Mifune can cut Hanzo, but without sealing techniques, there's no way the samurai can take out an Edo-Tensei-revived ninja, right?

the edo summons can be restrained, like Diedara is.

They can have the ninja seal him later.

physical attacks are useless against edo-tensei... but I know kishi will make good guys win
