I think Jiraya would win. Not only is he more experienced(he has white hair) but he also has guts!
they are both 2 of my favorite characters, but itachi would win. though jiraiya is a tank, itachi is just better. assuming itachi is not ill, he will be way faster way stronger and have full use of his mangekyo sharingan. so that means ameterasu, susano'o, tsukuyomi, as well as being able to see jiraiyas moves coming. jiraiya would never be able to go into sage mode either because itachi wouldnt let him. itachi would take him down.

no..itachi him self agreed that jiraiya is stronger than him..when kisame and itachi went to take naruto and jiriya summons some frog stomach

itachi on the side of konoha so why would he kill 1 of the strongest people in that village?
your argument is pretty stupid (sry), cause tsunade would lose to itachi and she is sannin too + orochimaru lost to itachi and he is stronger sannin than jiraya

but i dont see jiraiya beating amaterasu or tsukuyomi (even is sage mode) let alone his susanoo
and itachis speed is just too high, i mean a sharingan cant see his movements it even is blury with hand seals

it was something in those lines but he never wanted to fight anyone then and he didnt want to take naruto either

I suppose it is then up to this brat to argue for Jiraya: 1. whether or not itachi would kill Jiraya since he is on Konoha's side is irrelevant in this poll since it only questions whom you think would win in such a fight i.e. it's more of an imaginary battle. 2. That argument is not very stupid, yet it is a risky one. Why? well, being a sannin does leave a lot to be questioned such as, how strong is that Hanzo really(since it was he whom gave them their titles). After all, their titles relies on the one who gave them to them and what he saw in them. If it is about jutsu, Jiraya's sage mode is quite useful since he has that illusion tech. from 'ma' and 'pa'(when they sing, they did this to pain). brat out!

It takes time to active sage mode for Jiraiya and Itachi would not let him activate it he's really fast -_-

It affects the ears, no protection against it, just lay back and listen. Genius or not, if it is about titles then Jiraya was after all a prodigy. Sharingan would break low level genjutsu, that Itachi stated himself and also, that genjutsu is quite powerful. As to whether Itachi would be able to break it or not I have no clue.

That's why he has summonings and one must also consider in which state the two of them are in at the beginning of the battle.
would not be an easy fight....probly itachi's hardest...... if itachi was in the same conditions with the sasuke fight i beleive jiraya would get him first...but with full strength i beleive the sharingan would top even jiraya
