Even? Are you seriously trying to imply that Orochimaru was weak? You really didn't know him at all.

Just like IceShark said. Hiruzen was in his 80's and he still managed to seal both 1st and 2nd Hokages. He was in his 80's and he sealed Orochimaru's arms. The only reason Orochimaru managed to get away was because of Sarutobi's old age. He even admits this.

Jiraiya was definitely a high caliber ninja, but I don't think he would have won against Jiraiya especially since the OP says the fight takes place some time after Minato's death. Sarutobi should younger than he was against Orochimaru.

Well the key part of this discussion is the time of combat. It is after 4th's death so Sarutobi isn't in his prime. Jiraiya is surely in his prime.
Sarutobi beat 2 hokages but do you think these hokages were at their best when fighting him ? These two kages were considered the best ninja of there generations, notably the 1st fought he beat Madara Uchiha in his prime and who is now maybe the grand vilain of this manga. Do you think Sarutobi would have taken out this easily the 2 best senju ?
Is it important that Sarutobi knows all of Konoha's jutsu ? Come on, Kakashi knows over 1000 jutsu but that doesn't mean he beats Jiraiya.
Pain would have destroyed Sarutobi in his old days and Jiraiya almost beat him.
I admit Sarutobi was stronger in his prime !

did you honestly just imply that Jiraiya is not Kage level? you sir are out of your mind or are new to the Naruto series. Either one. Jiraiya is AT LEAST Kage if not a little higher. His Sage mode takes him levels beyond Kage level.

Hell, he almost defeated a so-called "God" if he knew one little secret.

I am a huge Jiraiya fan, but without any bias I have to tell you, don't underestimate Jiraiya. I could go into several reasons why he's a lot stronger than most people think, and that's why hes my favorite character, because he's that unique.

i know it was in the anime but people use refences from the anime all the time so w/e lol but didn't orochimaru say if sarutobi had been 10years younger he would have beaten oro and the hokages? (without dieing from the seal because oro didn't know about it yet) so orochimaru was the strongest battle-wise of the 3 sannin and this battle would take place 12 years before that, so sarutobi should be stronger then jiraiya still, and he did teach him everything but sage mode so he knows how smart and powerful jiraiya is and wouldn't be suprised by much.

He is another shinobi that is underestimated in the series a little bit. People say that someone like Pain would rape Hiruzen, well Pain would surely win but I think Hiruzen could survive for at least a few minutes with his skill and knowledge.

Who Said oro is the strongest sannin battle wise?
And the same goes for jiraiya, he knows his sensei well and must know his way of fighting too !

Pretty close, but Hiruzen would win, because if you remember back to the 3 Sannin battle, Orochimaru with no arms and a very cautious Kabuto managed to stick with not at full power Jaraiya and Tsunade and a enraged Naruto!
