Did madra fail the first time?

In the manga Madara is shown controlling the 3rd Mizkage, whos the 3tailed jinjuriki at one point in time. But in both the anime and manga it shows the three tailed beast with out a jinjuriki? Could it mean that madra failed in sealing the beasts chakra once setting it free to be captured and sealed again later?

I think that, once he had no more need for him, he killed the 3th Mizukage.

Considering the Jinchuuriki died, a Tailed Beast respawns later, and I assume the 3-tails respawned without a Jinchuuriki?

Perhaps, but this tells us also that either the Mizukage was weak or Madara is incredibly strong to take down a kage.

Oh, and was the third mizukage ruler during the "Bloody Mist" era?

Yeah I got mixed up in the order of Mizkage.1st is unknown think the third is too, then the three tailed jinjuriki, and then Mai?

the point I tried to make with the thread is why/ how did Madara fail to seal the three tailed beast.

Well if the jinchuuriki dies, doesnt the tailed beast die aswell? If thats the case madara may have used some sort of jutsu to release the beast. It's stated that the 3 tails was very weak from having no host, so im guessing madara planned this as it would be easier to seal the beast as it has less chakra and doesnt have a mind of its own.

I dont think the tailed beasts can die, and I'll use that their created out of Chakra/energy. Its scientificly impossible to destroy energy, its only transfigured and expressed in other forms. Like the 10 tailed beast being broken into 9 tailed beasts, and the body of the ten tails. When a jinjuriki dies it only delays the beast being rereleased like the case of Kurishna. She wanted to reseal the nine tails in her body, but said it would only put off it comming back a while. And I'll use the previous 8 tails jinjuriki, they kept dying and the 8 tailed beast was still alive and would rampage until the Raikage would seal it in the pot and then find another jinjuriki.

I dont see why Madara would want a weakend tailed beast? because he used a lot of tailed beast chakra to create the 100k white zetsu. Its almost counter productive to his goal of creating the 10 tails, and becomming its jinjuriki?

Madara controlling 3th Mizukage.. just for hidden in shadows and more easy to recruit Kisame, second loyalties member in akatsuki.
