I might get a lot of crap about what I am about to say, but a lot of anime shows just copy off Dragonball.

There are so many things that Naruto reminds me of Dragonball it's not even funny.

I still enjoy Naruto, it's one of my favorite shows.

Ohh yeah! i remember since i watch Hunter X Hunter and i love this anime..thats why when i watch hunter x..i realize that it is almost similar to naruto..specially the chuunin exam..well theres nothing we can do about it..we both enjoy naruto and hunter x hunter =)

doesn't help naruto was (still is?) kishi's only manga and im sure hes a big manga fan if its his profession to make them reading other good manga gives you good ideas that you can put in yours, besides other manga he also takes alot of major themes from japanese legends (the sannin, itachi's eye jutsus, the picture you posted with asuma and the HxH comparison.)

Ok it is not possible to use something really orginal anymore everything gets copied. Lots of manga's are based on legends and stuff.
