I'll have to search for it but he basically said that he led the world to believe he was defeated by Hashirama. While it could be a lie, the fact that Madara is still alive and was able to collect cells from Hashirama means that there really wasn't as clear a winner as we were led to believe originally.

I've always wondered why there were two statues at the valley of the end and not just one. They wanted to depict an epic clash where both lives were taken is my guess.

I think that in the end, Hashirama believed that he defeated Madara, but it took his life to do so or Zetsu must have been around at that time and used his body to keep Madara alive.

This is a battle that Madara would not have taken lightly and if he had an ace in his pocket like Zetsu, that would have been a trump card for Madara as well as the perfect reason to challenge someone like Hashirama to a one on one battle.

I don't think for one second that Madara would fight fair in a situation like that. Lure Hashirama into a one on one battle where you have something up your sleeve to turn the tide is my guess..

Well Hashirama being defeated doesnt make sense to me as Hashirama defeated Madara while his wife was nearby and then she sealed the Kyuubi inside her after Hashirama got it under control.

If Hashirama died we could quite clearly see Hashirama's wife alive when she passed the Kyuubi to Kushina so everyone would know if Madara and Hashirama died surely.

Also about Madara being half black Zetsu there is a thread of mine were there is a picture with Madara without his LEFT glove i.e. the side in I suspect to be shadow. BUT his hand does look slimy personally I think Madara is mainly a white zetsu clone body with Madara's Yin essense i.e. Yin part of his sould Yin = spiritual.

I'll find the picture of the hand I'm sure its the left hand....lol ^^

well that's the thing.it was thought that Minato couldn't be brought back through edo tensei the impure world resurection due to being sealed within the death god but Oro tried to summon him during the fight with Hiruzen.there's much speculation on the matter but those that say it can be done wouldn't be right nor would those that say it's impossible.that fact is we just don't know

so for your question I would have to say I don't know because there isn't really any proof just strong reasons to believe either one or the other

Do you know what I think? The user of death god gets sealed in his own stomach fighting the targets soul for eternity. However, if the person seals the soul of a dead person using death god seal then I doubt they can be revived. I am guessing the user of death god can be revived where as the target cannot be.

If you learn the japanese mythology it is possbile to defeat death god and so on. I am sure.
(I am so sorry as I have no proof to back up this claim!)

Now to talk about Hasihrama and Madara. I am sure Madara didn't loose on purpose. He lost the match however, he end up claiming Hashirama's DNA. The matter of win or loss can be therefore concluded upon what the real intenion of the challengee's is... If Madara motive was to obtain Shodai's DNA then he succeeded but, if it was to kill him/defeat him then he failed.
Shodai's motive was to defend and win so he won. Also was astonishs me is he took control of the kyubi while fighting Madara. He must of been really really really strong. The only real person I can relate shodai closer to is Minato.

Anyways. Has anyone wonderered why Tobi/Madara got stacks of sharingans in his lab? I bet this has something to with the zetsu's. Can he make soldiers who wield sharingan and have them under his control? Then again why aid sasuke with EMS? So he can steal that EMS?

The third used this against Orochimaru knowing what was going to happen with his sould once it was used.
