Shikotsumyaku or Dead Bone Pulse, is the Kekkei Genkai of the Kaguya clan which was near extinct. The ability is incredibly rare even among members of the clan, Kimimaro being the prime member to exhibit it. The skill allows anyone with this kekkei genkai to manipulate their own skeletal structure. By infusing the calcium chakra you can manipulate the growth and properties of your bones at will. Kimimaro was even shown removing his entire vertebral column to use as a weapon, without showing any pain nor discomfort, showing the rapid regeneration of their skeletal structure, and their incredibly high tolerance to pain. This works as both a double edged sword however, as it makes pain release methods to genjutsu impractical under normal circumstances.

The other person to wield this ability, showing it in a basic form, was Kaguya Otsutsuki. She showed instances of projecting bones which turned people into ash upon contact. It should be noted that this particular aspect was unique to Kaguya Otsutsuki alone.

It does show that the bones can be used as both regular weaponry, and projectile weaponry among other uses, Kimimaro was especially proficient at using his ability in close combat, using his ribcage to swiftly defend against attacks to his chest area, showing it was fast enough to defend against basic Taijutsu and showing their incredibly dense structure. It is noted that their bones were stronger than steel.

Most Shikotsumyaku techniques were considered nintai and have taijutsu applications, with one or two exceptions leaning more towards ninjutsu, however, I believe this has changed in the canon list and may need clarifying as to what is considered nin and what is considered tai.

Ninjutsu = bone forest level shit

Nintai = Using bones from your body enhancing your close combat skills

They also gain +1 Body AP.

Their damage is based on the Body Attribute.

Good to know, that is what I thought, I am sure if there is any confusion it can be clarified when I come across it.

Yes yes, I wouldn't have chose it if it didn't go by body either so thank goodness for that.

( Yanagi no Mai ) - Dance of the Willow

The first of five Kaguya dance forms. you manipulate the bone structure quickly growing a forearm bone through the palm of each hand to form bones capable of stabbing aiming to impale the opponent. After stabbing them, you can leave the bones in your opponent as spikes or you can retract them.

( Tsubaki no Mai ) - Dance of the Camellia

The second of the five Kaguya dance forms. You manipulate the bone structure, removing a long bone in the form of a sword from your shoulder. The density of this bone can be increased by many times making it as hard as steel due to your bloodline. you can pull up to two swords out at a time, both with full strength.

Question - Its probably not important, but this technique mentions it can pull two swords at full power, so both swords being at 30 damage. But does this hold up in current rules and standards? considering you would normally split the damage if you create more than one of something in a technique. I want to believe this technique bypasses this rule due to this phrase, but I know how old these techniques are and have likely not been updated.

By wording it holds in current standards.

( Teshi Sendan ) - Ten Finger Drilling Bullets
You fire the fingertip bones (Distal phalanges) at the opponent with bullet like speed. The bones rotate as they fly through the air aiming to drill into the target upon contact. The Kaguya Clan's fast regenerative abilities allows a limitless rate of fire.

( Hone Senbon Rendan ) - Bone Needle Barrage
Similar to the last ability, you fire several large bone needles from your arms which are meant to be harder than steel. Because of the fast regenerative abilities the Kaguya Clan hold, the rate of fire from and the supply of bones are limitless.

( Hone Gekido ) - Bone Rage

You gather chakra before releasing it from every point, thus releasing bone spikes from every point on your body, which stick out up to 3 meters each. Due to the nature of the ability this would be classed as a surge, but is hardly worth mentioning for it due to its rank.

Does that mean I can skip explaining them....

I will skip Bone rage since we have already done that one previously.

( Hone Yari ) - Bone Spear

You create a bone spear that can be used up close or by throwing it. I am pretty sure this spear is created from your spine much like the whip but is more rigid.

( Hone Shuriken ) - Bone Shuriken

You hold you palm out and grow several shuriken from its surface. You can also fire these shuriken out of the palm directly, making sure to point you palm where you want to aim.

You can explain them twice if you gonna be like that!

( Karamatsu no Mai ) - Dance of the Larch
Type: Offensive
Rank: B
Range: Short
Chakra: 20
Damage: 40
Description: Karamatsu no Mai is the third of the five Kaguya dance forms. The user creates a mass of razor-sharp bone spikes all over their body. The user can grow these bones at an extremely rapid rate so they can stab an opponent even as the bones are growing. Since the bones are harder than steel, they can be used defensively to block or trap an opponent's strikes.
This technique is a great surprise attack and it makes the user basically untouchable at close range. When an opponent is close to the user, they spin very fast, rapidly slashing the foe in multiple areas of their body.

Damage: 40

( Karamatsu no Mai ) - Dance of the Larch

You create a mass of razor-sharp bone spikes all over your body. You can grow these bones at an extremely rapid rate so they can stab an opponent while the bones are still growing. The bones can be used defensively to block or trap an opponent's strikes since the bones are harder than steel. A great surprise attack that makes the user basically untouchable at close range. supposedly. When an opponent is close to the user, you spin very fast, rapidly slashing at your target in multiple areas of the body.

A basic technique but a good one. Not much to say here.

( Asami no Mai ) – Dance of the Beautiful Linen

You slices upward with a sword made of bone. you then extend your bones from your back, which reach high into the sky, piercing a target with great accuracy and force before they quickly retract.

Question - Does this technique make a sword which you strike with or do you need to create a bone sword first? Secondly, does this even need to be a bone sword you attack with? could it be a sword of any kind like blood or steel? It seems to me the main part of this technique is the part where bones erupt from your back.

Do you even need to do the first bit? Could you just perform the second portion of the technique? The bones stabbing out of your back I mean

Create the bone sword first.

You said question, not questions. Can I now ignore the rest?

Secondly, does this even need to be a bone sword you attack with? - "The user slices upward with a sword made of bone"

It was more of a collection of different thoughts, while the technique does indeed say sword of bone, It holds little importance and could be achieved using a regular sword in theory. Which is why I asked :)

It does not hurt to be clear and see the confines and limits of a technique, thank you for clarifying

You repeatedly attack the enemy, alternating your attacks between your sword and bone grown from your knee. Basic Taijutsu and Kenjutsu stuff but with added spiky bone

You move towards the enemy with your bone sword spinning rapidly imitating a drill and strike them rapidly in multiple places. Another Ken styled technique just utilizing bone instead of a regular sword. with the added benefit of rotation.

( Hone Sousou ) - Bone Burial

You slam your hands on the ground, creating bones within the earth which grow under your target. It wraps around them with the intention to crush the opponent in a cork screw shape using the bones.

( Hone Tsubasa ) - Bone Wings

You grow large bone wings from your back which can be used to fly or to defend. You can also flap the wings and release bone spikes from them once per turn and the wings last for 3 turns. This gives you an opportunity to attack in a different way while also engaging in taijutsu.

Question - Do you move at your own base speed while flying or are you stuck to the B rank universal speed of the jutsu. If so that would severely hinder the flight aspect

( Hone Shokushu )- Bone Tentacles

You grow bone tendrils from your back to bind or pierce the opponent. Super simple.

A basic question - This technique specifically uses the word 'Tendrils' which are normally long, spiky and flexible. Seeing how this is bone. Are they essentially just Bone spikes, or are the Tendrils made from your spine to give them a flexible nature? I assume they are flexible as well due to the fact they can bind but want to be clear

Would mostly likely be the base speed at best. Not current speed. That would be too much.

I imagine the bone tendrils being like the Syn Shenron's spikes when he impaled vegeta

The user sends chakra into the spear every turn, constantly healing it passively, making it almost indestructible.

(Oniyuri no Mai) – Dance of the Demon Lily
Type: Offensive
Rank: A
Range: Short
Chakra: 30
Damage: 60
Description: While in his Cursed Seal: Level Two form, Kimimaro attacks the enemy repeatedly with alternate strikes from his hands and tail and then finishes off with a powerful strike from his backbones.
Note: Can only be used by Kimimaro.
I see. Ironically, that makes them better off on the ground than in flight, unless you have no speed boosts ofc.

( Tessenka no Mai: Tsuru ) - Dance of the Clematis: Vine

The fourth of the five Kaguya Dances which is divided into two jutsu. The first half allows you to remove your spinal column from your back, creating a flexible yet extremely sharp bone vine. Because of the specialised bone's flexible nature, it can wrap itself around an opponent, ripping them to pieces. - This is more how I envisioned the Bone tentacles as well xD

(Tessenka no Mai Hana) - Dance of the Clematis Flower

The fourth of the five Kaguya Dances is divided into two jutsu (there seems to be a lot of fourths...Anyways). The first half allows you to form a large, spiral-shaped bone spear, which you can use to pierce through any A-rank physical shield his opponent raises. You send chakra into the spear each turn, passively healing it, which makes it almost indestructible.

Question - So. Due to clashing rules, excluding strengths and weaknesses. A rank will always cancel out another A rank. This technique's description implies that this technique overcomes most A ranks being used as a physical defence. Is it right to think, that clashing rules would stay the same, but due to you passively healing your bone spear that it simply regenerates quickly without actually cancelling out against another A rank? The way the technique is worded implies that you would need a technique above or stronger than this to actually get rid of it.

That would be reaching. A rank will match A rank, yours will just heal after. Always damage vs damage now.
