Right, so I’ll try to answer as best I can within a reasonable amount but keeping it condensed as well. So the Sharingan is one of the three more well known Dojutsu within the world of Naruto. It was originally from the Rinnesharingan, but separated when it manifested within Indra. Thus from there it became its own unique eye, and would surface within his descendants - the Uchiha Clan. The Sharingan is unique in certain ways, which one of em is that despite being a Kekkai Genkai- its a very selective gene that only manifests within so few members of the clan. It also has predetermined methods of awakening such as one having to experience a high emotional circumstance, which can be stressful or traumatic - but in recent times via Boruto, we can see that the feeling can be positive as well. It all boils down to some sort of association to love, which the clan members are notoriously known to be deeply intertwined with. This is seen when Sasuke witnessed his parent’s death at the hands of Itachi or when Sarada was extremely overwhelmed with the love and idea of finally meeting her father properly.Ight tell me first of all about the basics of sharingan up to 3t. Then we shall move on after.

Now as for the actual Dojutsu, it is one that grows with experience - as one continues to use it and master it; the more ‘tomoes’ it gains. This directly correlates to how strong one’s Sharingan is currently at. Once it fully matures, it will allow an incredible amount of ocular abilities; but there are divided into two subclasses. They are respectively known as “The Eye of Insight” and the “Eye of Hypnotism”.
The Eye of Insight governs the Sharingan’s abilities pertaining to its perception. This elicits the ability to the Uchiha; visual awareness of chakra around them. This translates to being able to literally see and visualize sources of chakra within their visual perception, such as the chakra flow/system of an ally or enemy, the chakra in their surroundings i.e if an earth technique is being used they can detect the chakra in the ground pooling or seeing the irregularities in a person’s flow to see that they are under the influence of a Genjutsu. This also gives a characteristic ‘color’ to chakra as well, which would be able to help them identify different people, chakra natures etc. The next portion is the ability to predict and copy things they witness. The Sharingan has a limited form of precognition, allowing them to essentially see slightly into the future but only up to a certain point, but it allows them to be able to predict attacks, subtle movements etc. Of course, this still requires them to be able to actual physical move fast enough to do something about it, i.e if someone is moving towards me - just cause I can track them, if they are still moving too quick for me to physically react, id still get it by the strike.
This allows them to also perfectly mirror/copy movements they witness; allowing the Sharingan user to - within reason, copy techniques they have witnessed in a fight. The best example of this is with Kakashi literally learning and copying techniques. With the amount of information you perceive both from a physical aspect (such as handseals) and from the chakra aspect (like the amount of chakra) they are able to perfectly copy a lot of techniques, but of course they still need the ability to perform it. This makes copying Kekkai Genkai and other clan respective techniques etc normally impossible to copy.
Last but not least, with their higher tier of perception, they are capable of seeing through and piercing through visual illusions up to a certain rank. This rank is based on one’s current maturity of their Sharingan but by the time of 3rd Tomoe, an Uchiha with a Sharingan can pierce through visual illusions up to B Rank.
The second portion of the subclass is the “Eye of Hypnotism”. This is what most known Uchiha are known to use, the ability to cast a unique brand of Genjutsu through established eye contact. Once a person has looked directly into Sharingan, the Uchiha is capable of casting “Sharingan Genjutsu” which are far stronger, more potent illusions. There are some rare exceptions (canon wise) of not needing direct eye contact but alas, its a technique by technique thing but generally speaking they all require eye contact. The second portion of this is a form of hypnotism.
It’s more or less a ‘Freeform’ action, which still requires direct eyesight but what it does is it allows the Uchiha to essentially send subtle mental suggestions into the minds of their target, allowing them a VERY MINOR degree of control over them. However this is not true control, even at this level- its more or less supplanting thoughts/suggestions into their head with the Sharingan into believing things, such as when casting jutsu, the user combines the predictive nature of their eyes, while proclaiming the suggestion to the opponent that you are reading their minds.
This is more or less an extremely weaker version of the Sharingan Genjutsu, but this hypnosis can be more actively used with the actual Sharingan Genjutsu technique to pry information, relay memories etc. The user can also reverse genjutsu casted onto them, using a combination of the Eye of Insight and Hypnotism; allowing them to not only break free from the illusion but also send it back to their target.
Sharingan grants the user +1 Dex to their AP, while 1st Tomoe has x1.5 tracking, 2nd has x2 and 3rd has x3. The eye becomes passively triggered after owning the bio for at least one month approved and so forth. That’s about it I believe. One a more OOC note, there are some inconsistencies with the site vs the actual show, but it matters little in the long run. One of those things is the whole Sharingan Genjutsu thing being unlocked at 3rd Tomoe, but we've seen instances where other canon characters be using it at 1 Tomoe and 2 Tomoe, but again those aren't relevant to the site but found it interesting enough to mention. Oh and Sharingan Techniques operate on the Spirit Attribute.
Well most of this is actually from my own memory; so I kind of just...freeformed the writing lol. Anyways to the bolded parts, it means that the Sharingan user when inflicted by an illusion that is solely visual (meaning only targeting the sense of sight), the are capable of utilizing their visual clarity and perception to literally 'look past' or pierce through the illusion. This does not mean to actually break the illusion, but rather just being able to accurately identify it. They would still need to actually break the illusion that is casted onto them.Damn, you really wrote all of this. Effort fr. Almost seems AI <_<
As for the bold, I want you to explain how this actually applies in the RP. In a battle sense etc. Atp you've just rephased what's in the threads without telling me the application.
I say this as these abilities get dramatically stronger with MS.
Would they still suffer the mental damage of the illusion if they don't break it and only see past it?Well most of this is actually from my own memory; so I kind of just...freeformed the writing lol. I would assume they do considering that are still in the illusion by definition.Would they still suffer the mental damage of the illusion if they don't break it and only see past it?
Correct.I would assume they do considering that are still in the illusion by definition.
Correct.
Alright, lets talk MS itself. What is it? How is it achieved? Are they all the same? Why are they different? What are its limits and drawbacks? What will be the hardest part about using this in a fight?
Honestly, those words to ME are kind of fluff in a sense; why? While my ability to chain techniques essentially becomes more 'fluent', it all still has to respect timeframe. Like even if I have it active, if my opponent uses water release and I use lightning, it doesnt allow me to just make another technique before they can do another one unless thats an infusion or something. This course is something everyone can do; leaving you in a weird position id say. What I can say doe, it allows you to be more efficient in areas like CQC cause with the increased tracking and predicting nature, you can come up with IC faster combos to block the opponent's attempts at moves against you.Was asked to take over this training.
(Doujutsu: Mangekyou Sharingan ) - Eye Technique: Kaleidoscope Copy Wheel Eye
Type: Supplementary
Rank: Forbidden
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 50 ( -20 per turn to keep active )
Damage: N/A ( -5 per turn )
Description: The Mangekyo Sharingan, literally meaning "Kaleidoscope Copy Wheel Eye", is the highest known form of Sharingan, said to be feared as the strongest form of Sharingan. Awakening MS requires the user to have possession of 3 Tomoe Sharingan and to witness or simply go through some extremely dramatic emotional event. Upon this event, the user awakens MS. The most noticeable MS users gained it by witnessing the death of someone important to them, sometimes by their own hand. Once activated the appearance of the pupil drastically changes, differing from the tomoe seals, and gains a shape unique to each user. When active the user can track speeds even further beyond that of the third stage sharingan. The timing of the users counters, the chaining speed of multiple techniques and the ability to see through the enemy's moves greatly increases. Not only that but the user gains the ability to see through visual illusions A-rank and below. The link to Genjutsu is further increased and, if the user has gained full mastery over Genjutsu, he gains the ability to cast genjutsu without the need for Handseals as long as he has a line of sight to the target. Also, the Mangekyo Sharingan gives the user access to powerful and forbidden techniques, unique to each user. Extended use of the Mangekyo Sharingan after some time, deteriorates the user's eyesight to the point of blindness. The chakra cost is so high that it drains the users stamina and chakra at increasingly high speeds. Once the side effects of it's use take place, the user is left blind and unable to activate his sharingan. While keeping it active is already quite hard, the user will drain the time he can keep it active at each MS technique he uses. While some can decrease one turn, others can decrease even more.
Note: The user needs to have activated his 3T Sharingan beforehand
Note: Can only be activated twice, requiring a 2 turn coldown to activate again
Note: Lasts a maximum of 8 turns for the first activation and 4 turns for the second
Note: After the first activation wears down, his eyes revert to their normal appearance and the user can't activate his sharingan for 1 turn
Note: The first activation drains the users stamina and leaves him tired, while the second activation leaves the user blinded and almost unable to move if he doesn't deactivate it before the time ends
Note: To avoid direct Eye Contact and be able to focus only on the body movement below the chin, the opponent needs to have mastered Taijutsu to possess the necessary skill.
Note: Predicting the nature of a technique or what it exactly is requires the user to either know the technique or that its a cannon technique.
Note: While active, as long as a clear line of sight and the range is respected, the user can cast normal non-Doujutsu Genjutsu without the need for handseals. However, Doujutsu illusions still require eye contact (if feasible) or their own requirements; this ability only affects regular Genjutsu.
So you've touched on a lot of the basics about MS, mainly from a theoretic POV. Time for practical. For NB, the MS can only be activated twice per match/arc with the second activation potentially blinding you if you don't deactivate before it expires. Not only that but it ticks for 5 damage per turn on top of the health loss from its techniques. This means you're paying a hefty price every time you choose to use these eyes. But in exchange for your life you get Genjutsu without handseals (line of sight required), increased tracking, and visual Genjutsu immunity up to A-rank just by popping them open. All of that is cool, but I have a question/thought experiment for you: What do you reckon the line, "The timing of the users counters, the chaining speed of multiple techniques and the ability to see through the enemy's moves greatly increases" means for the RP? How would each of these quirks of the MS help or change your fighting style?
They're not fluff, actually. They're hinting to the advantage you have as an Sharingan user when it comes to finding openings in your opponent's techniques that would otherwise be called metagame for most other bios. For example if your opponent uses a Water jutsu, the normal reaction is to see the water and then devise a counter. The Sharingan reaction is to have known damn near exactly the scope and nature of that technique before it was even released by analyzing the opponent's chakra natures/patterns and movements such as hand seals, inhaling, looking somewhere to aim, etc. This allows you to react with an almost 'too perfect' counter like you knew what was coming. Imagine neutralizing Swamp before even an inch of the terrain is submerged or defending from a sneak attack without ever turning around. Its a slight and criminally overlooked aspect of the Sharingan, and what that note means is that your scope of this ability has increased, allowing you to push the envelope in reacting and predicting situations--especially in CQC with Body Arts. Just be mindful that you can't actually release your prepared technique before your opponent does--more like immediately after--and you have to account for all relevant sources of information related to your reasoning, such as noting the opponent's chakra traveling to a spot behind you in the case of that sneak attack.Honestly, those words to ME are kind of fluff in a sense; why? Maybe I am missing the bigger picture here ngl
Right so I did touch on these in a previous post, but I do question that part doe. When it comes to regular Genjutsu casted from the MS, they are still considered regular I believe? Alongside that noted, does the Sharingan Genjutsu uses become MS level? I ask cause I think I did ask about this a long time ago in Discord but cant remember the answer right now. They're not fluff, actually. That's not the only thing that immediately gets upgraded with the MS. Your Genjutsu are now able to pierce through most passive defenses such as Mind's Keen Eye and even Yin Specialist. The Genjutsu refelection ability can go up to 40 chakra (S-ranked) and the basic Sharingan Genjutsu Release becomes something else entirely. Not only are you now able to control Mythical summonings and force them to utilize CSCJ, but Tailed Beasts are now suddenly on the menu, too. Whether its their Chakra Shroud or Incomplete Transformation stage, you're able to temporarily sever the connection between Beast and host without the need for eye contact, which limits them from evolving to the next stage for 3 turns while also cutting access to all those nice Bijuu skills and elements. It becomes the ultimate Jinchuriki Slaying Tool.
( Bōshi Magen: Kyouten Chiten ) - Demonic Eye Illusion: Heaven And Earth Change
Type: Supplementary
Rank: C-S
Range: Short - Long
Chakra Cost: N/A (equal to the cost of the countered technique)
Damage Points: N/A (equal to the power of the countered technique)
Description: This is a illusion counter where, through the use of their sharingan, a Uchiha can take control over an enemy's Genjutsu and reverse it back into the opponent by taking control of it and releasing oneself at the same time. With 1 Tomoe, it can affect C-Rank and below illusions. With 2 Tomoe, it can affect B-Rank and below illusions. With a 3 Tomoe, it can affect A-Rank and below illusions. With MS, it can affect S-Rank and below illusions and EMS can affect any rank Genjutsu.
Note: Can only be used once every two turns.
Note: Does not require eye contact and must be able to cast ( I.e., cannot reverse a Sound Genjutsu without Sound Ninjutsu.
( Doujutsu: Genjutsu Sharingan ) - Eye Technique: Copy Wheel Eye Illusion
Type: Supplementary/Offensive
Rank: C - S
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 15 - 40 ( Equal Cost for Each Additional Turn Sustained )
Damage points: 30 - 80
Description: This broadly refers to a range of genjutsu performed with the Sharingan. It has also been shown to be performed through the Sharingan's higher evolutions: the Mangekyō Sharingan and the Rinnegan. By establishing eye contact with a target, the Sharingan user traps them within a sustained Genjutsu of the user's creation. Sharingan Genjutsu are stronger than other Genjutsu, being difficult to break in comparison due to the sinister chakra powering them. When utilized through the Mangekyo Sharingan, these Genjutsu are enhanced and deal an additional 40 damage. However, the time dilation effects and similar effects/ability of Tsukiyomi and custom variants cannot be replicated through these illusions. When used through the EMS, these illusions deal an addition 50 damage. In the case of Supplementary and none damaging use, these Genjutsu can be exploited for one of various purposes, such as: causing temporary paralysis in the target, forceful extraction of information, relaying memories, removing Genjutsu placed on the target by others, and controlling a target's actions. Controlling a target's abilities in limited to Summoning and other none Creation/Ninja entities. The 3 Tomoe Sharingan can forcibly controls Basic and Ancient Summoning's actions as long as they sustain this technique. MS can affect up to Mythical Contracts while EMS can effect even Legendary Summonings. This control is limited to the ability to control their physical movements with limited access to their ninjutsu, using only skills related to the Summoning itself.
In the event of Bijuu, Mangekyo Sharingan users are able to use their MS to cast powerful enough Genjutsu that even Tailed Beasts cannot break their hosts from it, being ensnarled as well. These Genjutsu can also seize control of a Tailed Beast by temporarily severing its connection to the host without the need for eye contact. If the Jinchuriki has not entered any Chakra Shroud state or higher, the user can cast a powerful Genjutsu that severs their connection and prevents access to the Bijuu as well as any of it's skills for 3 turns. Should a Chakra Shroud or Incomplete Jinchuriki transformation occur, the user is capable of preventing full access to it's Bijuu Skills for 3 turns by suppressing it. This presents itself in an inability to utilize the Tailed Beast Bomb variants, a Bijuu Skill such as Sand or Coral as well as access higher transformations. Should the user have EMS, this control is extended to blocking access for double the time and should a Complete Transformation occur, the user is capable of suppressing it's form and ending the Transformation in it's entirety and forces the health drawbacks to trigger as well as a reduced max health and chakra by 25% from fatigue. However, Bijuu Suppression can only be done by sustaining the technique at the cost of 2 moves per turn and prevents Sharingan Genjutsu for 5 turns.
Note: While powerful, the effects of Sharingan Genjutsu only last while the user actively sustains the technique, preventing usage of other Ninjutsu at the same time. This indiscriminately prevents the use of chakra in other techniques outside of basic Taijutsu only.
Note: When used in the NW, this can be used to tame a wild Tailed Beast and allow the user to summon it in an enraged state for 4 turns, only being capable of using Sharingan and non chakra enhanced Bukijutsu during this time, Ninjutsu being barred while controlling the target. This beast is summoned at max powers and has access to it's Skills and one Bijuu Pathway, determined through Official Roll in the NRP Discord. This ability can currently only be done by Madara Uchiha in the Ninja World.
Note: Can only be used once per turn. MS and EMS use can only be done once every 4 turns.
Note: Requires Eye Contact and activation of 3 Tomoe and higher Sharingan.
Yes, your regular Genjutsu casted through the MS remain regular. Only the base Sharingan Gen technique when used through the MS as well as specific MS Genjutsu have that perk, such as this one below:Right so I did touch on these in a previous post, but I do question that part doe. Ah yes, this weird technique. As far as I remember this use to be an Itachi exclusive technique; but I suppose it will have its uses. The only concern for me is that can the opponent actually see that the illusionary barrier stretches up to short range? Alongside that, if they are in short range to me, but move into mid/long, would they still be under the illusions suppression? If so, it's a more clear cut thing that this is likely only really good for cqc related situations.Yes, your regular Genjutsu casted through the MS remain regular. Basically the baby version of Tsukuyomi. It requires eye contact but allows you to dominate your short-range area by forcing enemies to move slower as soon as they pass through the 'barrier'.
( Doujutsu: Tsukuyomi Seitai ) Eye Technique: Tsukuyomi Mode
Type: Defensive/Offensive
Rank: S
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 40 (+10 per turn active)
Damage: N/A
Description: This technique is a weaker variation of the Tsukuyomi where the user casts a powerful genjutsu upon the enemy through eye contact that makes him believe that a sudden barrier has formed around the user, holding him back while making it seem as if time has slowed down. In reality, the enemy is just put into a painless genjutsu that makes him believe time was slowed down around the user in a form of a barrier and as such will move, in reality, slow while inside the illusionary barrier.
Note: Requires the user to have the Mangekyo Sharingan active and eye contact
Note: The time delaying effect lasts for 2 turns and reduces the duration of MS by 2 turns
Yes, they can see/perceive the barrier as that is a part of the Genjutsu. Really, it's a CQC deterrent, meant to scare off people from getting too close. And so long as they're inside it they will be subjected to its effects. Meaning, if someone tried to leave the barrier (Short range) to go into Mid or Long range then for the initial part of their movement, i.e. while they're still inside, they would be moving slowly to escape it. The only way to leave the barrier without experiencing its effects would be to release the illusion, incapacitate the user, or S/T shenanigans.Ah yes, this weird technique. Hmm ok ok I see your point. These other two techniques are weird too and honestly as I said in Discord, kind of useless; but I can see them having their uses. It would operate on a Genjutsu layering aspect, which you can stack em on each other but honestly I don't see myself using them much if at all. Anyways no questions really for these.Yes, they can see/perceive the barrier as that is a part of the Genjutsu. Really, it's a CQC deterrent, meant to scare off people from getting too close. Next up are two Genjutsu directly tied to Tsukiyomi Mode. They're weak, but as combo pieces their individual strengths don't matter; it's what they can do for you in controlling a fight or situation. The first one allows you spawn 'Crows' from your body to disrupt opponents and deal a little damage. This would be useful to interrupt physical maneuvers of the opponent's, like doding or Tai move, due to Genjutsu's inherent advantage over such arts. The second one is even more disruptive, able to stop an opponent dead in their tracks with illusionary spikes. Unlike Mirage Raven which pushes/knocks them back, Nail Paralysis locks them down plus it spawns directly above them, which can be quite the sneak attack if you play it right.
( Bōshi Magen: Shinkirō Karasu ) - Demonic Eye Illusion: Mirage Raven
Type: Offensive
Rank: B
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: 40
Description: While in Tsukuyomi Mode, the user expels illusionary crows from their body which spread in all directions, knocking enemies away. This technique cannot affect anything outside the Tsukuyomi barrier.
Note: Can only be used in Tsukuyomi Mode.
( Bōshi Magen: Tsume Mahi ) - Demonic Eye Illusion: Nail Paralysis
Type: Offensive/Supplementary
Rank: A
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: 60
Description: Similar to Demonic Illusion: Shackling Stakes Technique, the user, while in Tsukuyomi Mode, summons large white spikes to impale any enemies within the barrier from above.
Note: Can only be used in Tsukuyomi Mode.
Yea, not much to look at with those two. Though, since they require the MS active by proxy of requiring Tsukiyomi Mode active, they technically count as MS Genjutsu, so there's that to consider.Hmm ok ok I see your point. Ah yes, the infamous illusion among the MS Genjutsu. Tsukiyomi is a torture based illusion, which once casted onto the opponent - they would suffer what would seem like weeks, such as when Itachi used it on Kakashi. However they are only really subjected to its effects for several seconds, but that alone is enough to cause them to suffer so much mental strain, they virtually collapse. Its application is great, in the sense of that it allows you free rein over how you choose to torture the opponent. It also has the time dilation attached to it, which is what causes the effects to seem like they last forever.Yea, not much to look at with those two. Now for the grown up, glown up version. Though it requires eye contact, if Tsukiyomi lands it's GG's for most bios. Main thing to pay attention to here is the freedom you have in controlling the conditions within the illusion. In many ways, it is the Sharingan Genjutsu ability at its highest level now with a strong emphasis on time perception.
( Doujutsu: Tsukuyomi ) - Eye Technique: Nightmare Realm
Type: Offensive
Rank: Forbidden
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 70
Damage Points: 120 (-20 to user per use)
Description: One of the basic techniques awoken with MS, this illusion renders the victim at the total mercy of the user. The user has full control over space and time in the jutsu and can place the one affected through any hell they desire for any length desired. The only limitation of the technique is the users own imagination and skill, a fact proven by Itachi Uchiha who was must more masterful with its use than any other Uchiha before him. The technique itself only lasts for but a mere second in reality, but the one affected could have suffered through the equivalent of several weeks of torture which will manifest in severe mental damage and physical fatigue.
Note: Requires direct Eye Contact and the user to have MS active
Note: Each use reduces the duration of MS by 2 turns
Note: Its unblockable and unreleasable
Note: If the target doesn't possess at least a 3 Tomoe Sharingan, he is left unconscious and unable to fight regardless of body's physical condition
Note: Doesn't work on enemies who have MS/EMS active and use their own Tsukuyomi to counter
Tbh it's not elaborated on exactly how one would counter Tsukiyomi with their own, but if we go off of how the technique operates by itself, requiring eye contact, then it's safe to assume that you must maintain eye contact with your opponent for it to work. If you remember, Sharingan's hypnosis ability is weak but clutch in moments where you want to make it seem as if you can read the opponent's mind, or slow down their actions and hand seals in order to get yours off at virtually the same time (like with Kakashi and Zabuza). The same concept would apply here: by locking eyes with your opponent you would hypnotize and slow down their actions just enough to cast Tsukiyomi at the same time, cancelling out both Genjutsu the instant they were performed. If one were to wait until they're in the illusion to cast their own then they would have already lost as Tsukiyomi cannot be cast on yourself. Yes, Kuninotokotachi breaks it as well.Ah yes, the infamous illusion among the MS Genjutsu. The technique is beautiful, but has its own inherent rules/weaknesses. The first is obvious, requiring direct eye contact; but you can lowkey finesse this in a fight. For me, I don't have my Uchiha using her own Sharingan for a large portion of the fight usually, as people would instinctively try to avoid eye contact, but unless you know my character- it would be kind of metagame for them to avoid eye contact for no reason. That along gives you leverage if you have EMS to then suddenly pop the eyes passively and then boom, Tsukiyomi that bitch. The other rules is that of course, if the other person has at least 3 Tomoe Sharingan, they aren't immediately incapacitated by the mental strain. Thirdly, another MS user can simply use their own Tsukiyomi to counter it but I have to ask, is this a self induced use of Tsukiyomi? It's not really clear on how that aspect works ngl.
Other than that, it's unbreakable by any normal means minus using one's own Tsukiyomi and also with Yin State.
