Dungeons and Dragon's has gained a massive following in the past few years, so I have decided to make this thread for now so people can post D&D related content.

If this thread becomes popular enough, maybe we can get a D&D section on the forum :) Until then, enjoy this thread!

Whether you’re a veteran Dungeon Master weaving epic tales or a brand-new adventurer rolling your very first d20, this is the place for all things Dungeons & Dragons. For those unfamiliar, Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) is a tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) where you and your friends tell a shared story guided by imagination and dice rolls. One person is the Dungeon Master (DM), who creates the world, controls the monsters and NPCs, and describes what happens. The other players each create a character (like a fighter, wizard, or rogue) with unique abilities and personalities.

The game blends storytelling, strategy, and chance. Players describe what their characters want to do (fight, explore, persuade, sneak, cast spells), and the DM decides what dice rolls are needed to see if they succeed. A 20-sided die (d20) is the most common tool for resolving actions.

Adventures can range from epic battles with dragons to solving mysteries or role-playing through conversations. There’s no “winning”, the goal is to have fun, work together, and see how the story unfolds.

Here in this section of the forum, you can:
  • Share Your Stories – Epic campaigns, hilarious misadventures, or emotional character arcs.

  • Help Fellow DMs – Got a tricky rules question, or need advice for worldbuilding, pacing, or encounters? Ask away!

  • Character Concepts – Bounce around ideas, flesh out backstories, or showcase your favourite creations.

  • Homebrew Creations – Spells, monsters, classes, races, magic items—if you made it, bring it here!

This is a space for collaboration, inspiration, and the joy of storytelling. Whether you’re exploring dark dungeons, fighting dragons, or laughing through critical fails, every tale has a place here.

So grab your dice, ready your character sheet, and join the adventure!

Nerd.

I am interested to some degree, though. We will see.

How dare you sir! I am not a nerd... I am the High Nerd! Put some respect on the name!

I am glad to hear it, just keep on eye on the space if you prefer :byez:

To avoid double posting...

This is my current character in my current campaign that I am participating in as a player. He is primarily a monk using the shadow subclass.

His backstory is that he belongs to an assassins order named the Nightingales, who operate as professional assassins for the crown. Able to kill anyone the Monarch assigns or anyone the order deems as a threat to the crown, or its citizens, even if that is the person that wears it.

You can teach me. I've played it once before, several years ago, but our dungeon master was drunk, so we didn't get a cohesive session.

I can certainly help, as I am sure many who will be interested in this thread can do :) This is partially what the thread is for.

The best place to start would be to pick up a copy of the [Players Handbook 2024]. This will hold most of the information a beginner needs and will help answer some questions on how to get started. You can also find the information this book provides on specific sites. I have provided images that hold a brief description of the classes below :)

Do you no longer have time to play? or are you missing a group to play with?
The lack of a consistent group is the usual problem, also I was more privy to 5e before the new updated players handbook and stuff

[STORY]

In my current campaign, where I am a player. We are playing as homebrew classes, my character is called C.E.L.I.A. She is a a race called Living Steel, a homebrew race created by the DM, it is essentially a Warforged but with some twists, like my vision is Infra-red, I weigh 350 pounds and I can't swim. She is essentially inspired by Penny from RWBY, at least originally. Circumstances have ended up changing the initial design plan.

This story is about my party, who were dubbed as the 'Ashen 5'. Now we did not come up with this name, but it was bestowed upon us due to coincidentally being in towns that ended up being destroyed. We did not INTENTIALLY destroy either town. The first town was already in ruin due to a creature known as The False Hydra. I don't want to spoil anything for people but it was an intense encounter. But we got blamed for the destruction. The next town we arrived in, we trailed a quest to deal with a creature called a Bullette. Its basically a burrowing tank, and we encountered the male. Little did we know that the males, at least within the universe of our DM, are the SMALLER gender of the species. We ran from 2 GARGANTUAN Bullette females, that burrowed under the town and breached in the centre of the town, destroying it.

Narrowly avoiding our own demise, we ventured to a floating city, the birthplace of my character. We are currently facing a terrorist plot to destroy the mechanism in place that make the city float. If it succeeds not one but two cities will be destroyed and if we fail but survive, the tale of the Ashen 5 will grow stronger, spreading further throughout the world.

The DM has used programs to create legit songs telling the tale of the Ashen 5 -_-" Wish us luck fellow adventurers.

This is a pretty common theme when it comes to DnD.. especially as adults as finding a consistent game can be difficult. You might be worth looking into your local game stores as they can sometimes host groups that play. Your other option is looking at DnD online over VC. This is becoming more common since people struggle to get together or may live further away :)

Hopefully this site can become a place in the future where people can also find groups to play DnD with.

I hope you find a group in the future :)

The newer stuff is not a big difference from 5e. There are mainly balance changes and improvements, you can generally switch between 2014 5e and 2024 5e D&D stuff :)

Consistency is a big thing for sure. My current campaign started in February, we are still in single digit number of sessions due to people having to work on the day we worked out to be the best day for everyone lmao. Even I have 2 shifts that fall on our DnD day in November xD

Fr it's hard as heck, I do go to a local board game cafe regularly recently, but despite appearances I'm pretty shy when making new friends and I think because of past experiences of past groups disbanding quickly I'm scared to get attached loool. Doing the odd one shot every now and then is not so bad

One shots are definitely a good way to ease back into things, even if its to establish players or dms that you can get along with. Even a series of standalone one shots can grow into a campaign, and though its cliche, dont feel too pressured to make new friends. As with anything, it takes time, especially as adults. You got this 🤘 at whatever pace you need.

T_T The DM already has a song prepared if that happens. It sounds amazing. Doesnt help we have a Chaotic Nuetral alien cloud donning ancestral armor in our party, whose main goal, unbeknownst to the other party members, is to lead us down the path of evil. xD

I wanna turn my sci-fantasy universe into some kind of ttrpg and play test it eventually, it's just a lot of work. But it's a fun lil project, I enjoy and miss sci-fi settings I get to play in or rp

Look into a system called Stars Without Numbers, apparently its a community favourite for a space themed ttrpg system. Theres also Traveller (apparently Mongoose Publishing Second Edition is highly recommended as well)

Sci Fantasy is always an interesting concept, so have fun with it!

This is normal, I wouldn't stress, start with maybe asking the owner if DnD takes place in the cafe and whether its open to the public, and what days they occur. you could then turn up on those days and ask the players, DM whatever questions you need to. Just take it slow.

Thats awesome, I would love to hear more stories of your campaign, I am sure some of the interactions that result will be funny xD

Tbh, even DnD's system could manage this, We already have the space jammer campaign etc. Just homebrew anything you need specifically and apply it to DnDs system.
