Besides exploding, what utilities can the clay be applied towards?

In terms of forms, we have seen Deidara make insects, birds, a person and a dragon. They did not only have their forms, but the full physical abilities of their species. Are there any limits in terms of what types of animals he can make? Could he not make horses, a gryphon, giants and such and with their natural physical powers? And since the person form could temporarily clash with Sasuke physically, would the other forms have good enough physical stats to trouble shinobi?

And what of non-life forms? Could he not make weapons, armour and such? How durable would they be? Could he make clay versions of the golems that the 3rd TK used? What about constructing houses and such structures?

And if he himself was not do explosions but only focus on clay forms, what would Deidara be worth? What say you?
