What do you make of the above as advuce or a principle/goal of life?

In favour of it is that becoming someone who appreciates you, particularly in terms of characteristics means you are without that sort of person which in turn means you have somewhat lost yourself on your way. It basically means you are at a bad place.

Against it is the idea that proper growth requires a full turning of the wheel, going through al the experiences of life. So this advice has people resisting natural order and not appreciating every step of their journey because they view it as failure or a mark of failure.

Wuth both sides, the love is applied to the characteristic aspect of loving a person/thing. What do you make of it?

That should be the case, by expectation.

The focus here is more on thst main difference of what comes with loving a person
