Meet with the leader of the Rebels
Panthalassa was resting well from his injuries, even with the help of Barney's medical techniques, the fatigue from this whole expedition was starting to pile up. There were more moments of peace and quiet than before, as Barney and Panthalassa took turns taking naps and sleeping, yet they still merrily chatted away. They were now coming to a crossroads in their journey. On one hand, they had already gone through quite a lot, seeing as they had taken out a few villages, and stolen quite a lot of important scrolls and data, and this could already be considered quite a lot of service done towards the Rebel's cause.
On the other hand, they didn't feel like they had done all that much, at least not something that could have direct implications to undermine Madara's rule. With the exception of a few minor characters, no one directly involved in the upper echelon of the Village Hidden in the Valley had actually showed up. Myke was too irrelevant for the cause of the Rebels to have any clear plan of their plans.
Panthalassa looked at Myke once more, studying him. He and Barney had met him at the outskirts of the Village Hidden in the Valley's domain. From what they had gathered, Myke Hauk was a periferal leader of an outer branch. His role was to serve as scout for landmarks that weren't directly affiliated with the Village. Barney had come up with the theory that he wasn't even a scout, but rather a glorified manager of rebelious groups popping up outside the scope of the actual rebel mission.
They had inquired Myke, with no clear direct answer. He appeared to know about the ex-Captain that was leading the Rebellion, and seemed to have participated in the first wave of insurgence. But as the rebellion had met with some resistence, many of the less commited members would invariably take the chaos that ensued to move onto less upstanding moral stances. A clear Main group of Rebels, acting under the Ex-Captain, would act within the Landmarks owned by the Village Hidden in the Valley, while several stragglers would take the chance to "act" under the rebellion to self-appease their own interests. Myke and the like were a response from the Ex-Captain to contain and indirectly restrict these stragglers, which were not in the best interest of his plans, but, for the moment, were a good distraction and chaotic element to spread discord over their enemy.
Panthalassa and Barney had discussed to length, away from Myke's ears, that it wasn't necessarily a bad plan, to have these glorified managers deal with these hoodlums for the moment, while they are useful to reap discord, but that, if the Ex-Captain ever plans to take over the Village, he needs to have a way to deal with them and cut them off, while also have his own name clean from being associated with them. Which was all fine and dandy, but it still left Barney and Panthalassa more connected with Hoodlums rather than the actual Rebel Movement.
According to Myke, the Ex-Captain base was settled within the secret forests of Yakukotan, which was the ground zero of a horrible zombie plague that swept over the landmarks. It was one of the events that Madara merely overlooked and the population was left to suffer on their own. The Murk Plague, set off by the infamous Isabella Uchiha, as a vanity project of the Sage of Deceit that was solely targetted towards Madara Uchiha, and it was clear that any civilian was just an unfortunate bystander of their rivalry. Within this discord, the Rebels had taken ground helping the villages that were afflicted the most, while undermining the rule of Madara.
It took a while to reach the meddow where the rebel base was, but every journey would meet it's end. The camp was set with multiple brown tents climbing up tree trunks and branches. Busy soldiers would roam from place to place, while several children and elderly populated every corner of this makeshift city of fabric and filth.
Panthalassa spread out his legs, stretching his whole body from the voyage, before turning in to both Barney and Myke Hauk.
I guess we're here, where is this leader? I'm hungry.
