This game is no generic mafia game, roles are bound to their flavour. So it is Not easy to make a fakeclaim.

So yes after Demon being almost lynch DP, him being most likely and the his perfomence at the beginning of this Day phase I would like to hear his claim.

How do we know if whatever role they claim is town/scum/3p aligned? I remember reading an argument that the characters could be different alignments than in the story and idk the story but how do we know their alignment is true, and if it is false, how does it help us to know their role?

Google your flavour and the flavours of the dead and compare their roles with wikia entries.
You will find out fast this game is extremely flavour driven.

I am Town and also have a passive protect. So I didn't bother. As mentioned many times the presented mechanics told us there are many kill shot abilities. So such passives are Not alignment indicative.

Stop treating this game like ToS or generic Mafia. Treat it like a Reg game from our lovely TB-community
