Kamala Khan Fan Fiction

Kamala's friend was always helpful, Kamran said her Captain Marvel poster might have to be destroyed cus it was stuck to the wall with glue but she assured him there must be another way.

"What are you going to call yourself when fighting crime?" He asked.

"I can't just make that up, people will call me whatever they call me, as long as they don't calle me by my real name I should be fine."

"Your name is cool, Khan was the greatest warlord the world has ever seen."
"I don't want to be named after a warlord."

"What do you want to be named after?"

Kamala said nothing but kept looking at the poster on her wall.

The first nights went well, she used her super powers to prevent the otherwise usual robberies and muggings the city was known for at night.

She felt she made a difference and it felt good, at some point she thought she had even caught a glimpse of Spiderman.

Then came the media.

"Newcomer thinks she is above the law."

It wasn't the most positive review, but then again the paper had been targeting spiderman for a long time now and people still loved him.
She kept reading.

"Another wretched individual of the self righteous group known as super heroes claimed has over the past month made her presence known and claimed a position at stopping small levels of crime, leaving the police without jobs and having no concern for standard procedure when dealing with crime or any known expertise and qualities for it.
We can only hope a mugger sends her a threatening message enough for her to realize how serious the situation actually is and that she should stop while she is still alive.
Of course crime cannot be tolerated but these escalated attempts of self importance are nothing but menacing to those individuals left without powers but the responsibilites to act like normal civlized human beings."

Kamala didn't quite understands the authors point of view but she didn't change her mind about what she was doing.

The real test came the day she heard about a huge break in, by a supervillain, these criminals were different, cus they would actully be able to escape police, hence doing their crimes in the daylight, people would hope for heroes to risk their lives taking them down, the very though of a person so powerful they could get away with crimes during the day was provoking.

Kamala decided she wanted to level up, and show the city she was serious about her new job.

It wasn't easy and she feared for her life but she made it.

She actually defeated someone. And the press was there to great her in person, she was afraid someone would attempt to unmask her, that someone would rip the hijab acting piece of hood she wore on her head as part of her costume, but nobody did, the press liked her and so she liked them back.

Of course some press kept saying that press was enabling bad behaviour but again, Kamala didin't care.

(Yes I made her wear a Hijab, it's more realistic, sue me.)

"You are becoming a role model for people in this city, but you don't even seem that old, what do you call yourself?"

"Ka- ehm...I have my own role models, I'm not someone to be looked up too, I look up to Ms Marvel, I really like her."

"Well now you are Ms Marvel, and must be an example to the good people of this town!"

People cheered.

Another month went by but nothing major happened, she returned to her usual night patrols. But what she found one night gave her a shock.

A small gang was looting a shop, breaking it's windows and taking whatever they wanted, one of them was Kamran.

She immediately recognized him and her sight was confirmed when he felt embarassed to be caught by her.

"Kamran, why are you with people like them?"

"You know her, Kamran?" One of them said.

"And what did you call us? them? Maybe you should be taught a lesson, on manners for the people you seem to step on..."

"Show her Kamran, show her or you are not one of us!"

"Better yet, show her or you are an enemy of us."

Kamran thought for a second on what to do, then he took a swing at her, She couldn't fight someone she knew. It wasn't in her. So the punch landed, the others chimed in and took the hood on her face and removed it along with her mask.

Rain made her hair wet, the three culptrits looked at the face but couldn't recognize her, only Kamran did, but he wouldn't say anything.

The shock began to disappear, and Kamala felt anger, anger for having been betrayed by her best friend.

She started to fight back, but this time she fought differently. bones were broken, people started screaming, begging for mercy, they found none except she let them live of course, she wanted them all to experience shame, the police finally came and her wish was granted she dragged Kamran along with the others towards a police car, without her mask or hood on.

The police kindly took the culprits who had to spend a night in jail and have their future forever tainted by being a bunch of nobodies.

"Why would you do that, Kamran?"

He thought Kamala had come to the arrest to lecture him, he didn't even think about the words not being female.

When he looked up he saw a tall man with brownish curly hair.

"Who are you?"

"My name is Maximus, I'm from a place you will never find but...I'm like you..."

"Are you a criminal too? You must know how I feel then....like an idiot."

"No no no, we aren't criminals, I have watched you, I know you were angry with the owner of that store, he said you were inhuman, that you were a living weapon that should be regulated by society so it doesn't hurt people."

"How do you know that?"

"As I said, I have been watching you..."

"well, people hated him for it, they protested him and tried to make him go bankrupt, I just, it still felt like he won, you know? I keep going over these words, I keep going over my actions, and look at me? I'm in a jail cell, he is right, they are all right, the looks on their faces I hate them but I can't do anything about it! Why are they always right? Why am I the bad guy!?"

"But you are not the bad fuy Kamran, you just need power, to turn fear into respect, once people respect you, all your ailments will dissappear, and people will truly be proven wrong."

"How do I reach that?"

"You need to cross the line, Kamran, do me a favor and I promise you will have your respect."

"What do I have to do?"

Kamala had begun to have a hard time focusing on school, just getting up in the morings was awful nowadays. Her obligation to fighting crime took all the energy she had, was it wrong for her to just live a normal life instead?
Perhaps the Bugle was right and she shouldn't do crime fighting, maybe it was just a fantasy she had that she tried to realize, some silly dream that shouldn't come true.

When she heard the news she wanted to imemdiately go back to head, on the front pages, not just the Bugle, was a story about a murder, a man named Trask who was rumored to have been working on "ethnic weapons", was therefore a very unpopular man but still a man that dressed himself with respect, and he had been found dead, the culprit? - An inhuman kid named Kamran.

What was happening with the world? Everyone was talking about how the police should watch these people, that they didnt have the same rights anymore, the trust in them was broken, this group was a danger - a menace.

Kamran was going to be taken to something called the Raft, the youngest person to ever be taken there.

At this point Kamala had had enough, immediately, before the window was going to be closed she found the police escorting the youngster far away, away from the city so he couldn't hurt anyone, away from civilzation cus he didn't deserve to be in it.

"Why did you do it Kamran? Do you know what you started?"

"It's not my fault how people react, as if people could have predicted what this pathetic thing would lead too... or even want some stupid war between humans and inhumans, you better watch yourself by the way..."

The police took him into a car before he could speak more, but Kamala wasn't done yet, she said she wanted to speak with him, they denied that, she still didn't care and used her inhuman strenght to fight the police.

The police were all ready to fire at her but someone intervened - Captain Marvel.

Kamala stopped her emotional actions and looked in wonder as she saw her hero approach in real life.

"This is none of your business kid, you better go."

"He is just a kid, and this is my business! More than yours! They are taking him to the raft!?"

"I know, that's why I'm here, to escort him, he is not going to a fun place."

"Wait the raft? Nobody told me that..."

Kamran heard their conversation the police had not been able to watch him as they were fighting Kamala.

"Shut up, kid!" Said one of the officers.

"No I don't wanna go to the raft! Let me go! I swear I wont do anything again!"

"As if we can know what you will do, there is a safety risk on every new yorker thanks to you, this is not to spite you it's to help them."

"But I'm not a criminal anymore! I swear, let me go please!"

Kamran started crying. It was sad seeing a teenager as terrified as a child not being able to go to his parents.

"How long will he be staying at the raft."

Kamala asked anyone willing to answer.

"Indefinitely," said Marvel.

She felt powerless, helpless, she didn't know what to do, what she should do was no longer clear in her mind.

"NO!" Screamed Kamran.

"NO ONE IS GONNA TAKE ME ALIVE!"

Kamran started glowing, a fight was a bout the erupt, and the police did not seem ready for an inhuman fight, they grabbed their guns again but Kamala interveaned to fight on the side of her longest friend.

Kamran started firing himself, firing wild at the police, anyone of them could be killed at any second.
But another second never came, suddenly the screaming stopped, Kamran stopped, forever.
Captain Marvel had snapped his neck.

"Why did you do that?" Asked a desperate Captain Marvel acolyte.

"He was going to kill people, I saved lives!"

"NO YOU TOOK ONE!"

She was ready to fight her idol. The police seemed genuinly afraid, but they were also afraid enogh to stay out of it this time.

Ms Marvel shrunk her fist down to regular size, and just swallowed the sadness instead.

She went home.

She tore down her poster and cried.

The end.

Do you think it was retarded of me to put a hood on her head, cus I wanted her to be a more realistic muslim not just a liberal fantasy muslim, but I also had it be removed at one point.
I don't support putting hijabs on people as a role model but I wanted her to sort of be deconstructed as a "hero" and be more like a person.

Kamala's friend was always helpful. Kamran said her Captain Marvel poster might have to be destroyed cus it was stuck to the wall with glue but she assured him there must be another way. Although, right now they have another problem.

"What are you going to call yourself when fighting crime?" He asked while looking at the Marvel poster. His eyes briefly glanced over to her before going back.

"I can't just make that up, people will call me whatever they call me. As long as they don't call me by my real name, I should be fine."

Rolling his eyes, Kamran looked straight at Kamala's face, "Your name is cool, Khan was the greatest warlord the world has ever seen."

She looked right back at his with stoicism, "I really don't want to be named after a warlord."

"What do you want to be named after?"

Kamala said nothing but kept looking at the poster on her wall.

The first nights went well, she used her superpowers to prevent the otherwise usual robberies and muggings the city was known for during the night.

It wasn't the most positive review, but then again the paper had been targeting spiderman for a long time now and people still loved him. She kept reading.

"Another wretched individual of the self-righteous group known as superheroes claimed has (i don't know what this means LOL, I'm just going to interpret my own meaning into it)"Another wretched individual of the self-righteous group known as superheroes has claimed that over the past month, she made presence known and claimed a position at stopping small levels of crime. Kamala read over the passage again. She didn't quite understand the author's point of view but didn't bother looking into it either. The new hero believed wholeheartedly in her beliefs and nothing was going to change that.

The real test came the day she heard about a huge break-in by a supervillain. Kamala had a feeling these criminals were different because they would be able to escape the police. Hence doing their crimes in the daylight, people would hope for heroes to risk their lives taking them down. The very thought of a person so powerful that they could get away with crimes during the day was provoking and terrifying for non-heroes.

Kamala, at that moment, decided she wanted to level up and show the city she was serious about her new job.

It was long and she feared for her life through it all, but she eventually made it with blood and tears.

She then eventually defeated someone. The press rushed over there to greet her in person. Even though this was exactly what she thrived for, Kamala was afraid someone would attempt to unmask her, that someone would rip the hijab acting piece of the hood she wore on her head as part of her costume. Nobody stared at it twice. Kamala smiled and looked over the press. They liked her and so she liked them back.

Of course, some people would keep saying that the press was enabling bad behavior but then again, Kamala didn't find herself to care.

(Yes I made her wear a Hijab, it's more realistic, sue me.) Also, I don't find it retarded that you made her wear a hood lol

The press gathered around her and she answered one question at a time, "You are becoming a role model for people in this city, but you don't even seem that old, what do you call yourself?"

"Ka- ehm...I have my role models too so I'm not someone to be looked up too. Although I do look up to Ms. Marvel, I really like her and her achievements."

Somebody in the crowd screamed something, "Well, now you are Ms. Marvel, and must be an example to the good people of this town!"

People from all around cheered and whistled.

Another month went by but nothing major happened, Kamala would return to just her usual night patrols. However, what she would find that night would shock her forever.

Windows and laughter rang from around the area. Kamala got back up from where she was taking a break and started to sprint that way. Arriving there, she saw a small gang was looting a shop, breaking its windows, and taking whatever they wanted.
One of them was Kamran.

She immediately recognized him and stared at him thinking it wasn't real. Kamran looked up when he felt somebody staring at him, "Kamala..." His eyes were open in shock, not yet processing that she was there.

"Kamran, why are you with people like them?" Multiple emotions passed through Kamala in a blink of an eye. Rage, disbelief, grievance, sadness. All of them making her confused and nauseous.

"You know her, Kamran?" One of the robbers called out to him. He then glanced at Kamala, "And what did you call us? them? Maybe you should be taught a lesson on manners for the people you seem to step on..."

"Show her Kamran, show her, or you are not one of us!" Another guy yelled from across the room.

"Better yet, show her or you are an enemy of us." The closest guy to them said.

Kamran thought for a second on what to do. He came to a conclusion and impulsively took a swing at her.

Kamala was frozen, she couldn't fight someone she knew. It wasn't in her and her morals. So without dodging, the punch landed and others chimed in. They ripped the hood on her face and removed it along with her mask.

The rain made her hair wet and made the pain on her body numb. The three culprits observed her face but couldn't recognize her. Only Karman knew who exactly she was, but was too overstimulated on emotions to say anything.

The shock began to disappear and Kamala felt anger, the rage for having been betrayed by her best friend. The guy who tried to help her figure out how to take her poster down, the guy who was there when she first became a hero.

Kamala then shot up and punched a person who helped beat her up, but this time she fought differently. Bones were broken and cracked, people started screaming, begging for mercy. They found none, but she still couldn't force herself to kill anybody so they lived on. Of course, she still wanted them all to experience shame and what she felt about being betrayed by Karman. The police finally came and her wish was granted. She roughly dragged Kamran, along with the others, towards a police car without her mask and hood.

The police grabbed the culprits and thanked her. She stared from her spot as the robbers were being cuffed.

That night, Karman and the others spent a night in jail with their futures were tainted by what they had done. They soon became nobodies to Kamala.

Below is unedited lol
