q represents the number of tobis in this case being the different tobis. My theory is that originally there was a tobi who was killed and replaced by obito. I think this is an on going cycle though and there were many tobis who were replaced.

Sort of like in the movie the dark knight where there are multiple jokers and the main one kills one of them.
