A record high temperature of 18.3C (64.9F) has been logged on the continent of Antarctica.

The reading, taken on Thursday by Argentine research base Esperanza, is 0.8C hotter than the previous peak temperature of 17.5C, in March 2015.

The temperature was recorded in the Antarctic Peninsula, on the continent's north-west tip - one of the fastest-warming regions on earth.

The earth isn't an instant manifest of what we do to it. It's a progression, sooner or later you'll feel the effects and you'll attempt to prevent the cause that's in motion only to understand that it's beyond recovery. The earth is like that one Gf who keeps holding in all the negative emotions until she explodes on you and she won't forgive you.

High temperature means melted glaciers. Meaning no more glacier. In many regions that are dependent on a seasonal rainfall, glaciers are a reliable water resource in the dry season. A lot of rivers originate from glaciers which may die without them. Plus it means sea water level may rise and drown coastal areas... And it's just two things on top of my mind..

So the "green" on earth and clean fresh water is in danger with high temperature at many places. Civilizations in the past were destroyed when rivers dried up for some reason or changed coursed due to geological/environmental/human activities etc.

That's just one aspect.
