Before calling it BS, you might want to wait for an explanation in the following chapter. It's kind of a bad habit many readers have to immediately jump the gun before even having given the author a change to explain.

I mean face it, if he would explain it beforehand, people would complain how stupid it is to explain the mechanics of your powers in front of your enemy.
