This is not bait! :bdpf:
I'm not asking about your favorite character. I want to know who you think has the best personality, the best story, and the best depth overall as a character.
See, my favorite is Neji. But I think Kakashi is the best character. His personality itself isn't like all the other characters, where it's just one specific thing (I.E: Gai, with his youth | Sasuke, with his vengeance). He has a very flexible personality with all kinds of sides. He can be cold an calculated, kind and considerate, playful and sarcastic, and outright merciless. It's like he's a culmination of the best qualities of every other character in the series. Kakashi has been through a lot of development, losing his mother, his father committing suicide, being forced to kill his teammate, losing his Sensei. And his best friend whom died years ago was suddenly alive once more, fighting as his enemy in a war he started. I'm surprised Kakashi hasn't gone completely insane, because all of this shit is extremely mentally taxing. He certainly has an indomitable will. Kakashi never has a fight that isn't interesting.
"Part of Kakashi's usual approach to combat is to rely on the Body Replacement Technique and clone techniques, thereby keeping himself out of harm's way while he observes an opponent and their abilities. Even when he doesn't use this system of misdirection and decoys, he remains alert to any unexplained or unexpected occurrences, coming up with theories for their causes when they arise and exploiting them if they prove true, which they usually do. Once he identifies an opponent's weakness, Kakashi can quickly formulate a plan to take advantage of it, efficiently utilizing each of his allies' unique skills to that purpose. Such plans, while often elaborate and unorthodox, are typically highly successful and very low-risk, making Kakashi invaluable as a leader."
That interaction he had with his dad when he died? Man, my heart dropped. And having to deal with Naruto and Sasuke only adds to his already incredible story. His backstory has been done to death by fillers, I'll admit. But overall Kakashi has a story worth making him the main character, and it's been so satisfying watching him grow into fruition over the years.
What do you guys think? Who do you think is the best character in the series, and why?
