How powerful is Hashirama genjutsu?

As we know Hashirama performed genjutsu on the 3rd Hokage, the 3rd Hokage didn’t attempt to break his genjutsu. The question how powerful is his genjutsu.

Hashirama is not a yin type by databook, so it makes it more impressive that Hashirama can even use genjutsu. Jiraiya states only someone with high intellect can learn genjutsu, meaning Hashirama must be smart then.

Back then, Minato was supposed to be the strongest hokage ever and Hashirama was supposed to be just a "fodder" with mokuton and some genjutsu. Kishimoto/his assistants who wrote the databook most have probably even forgotten that Hashirama was the one who used it, but instead thought it was Tobirama (like in the anime).

And it should be as powerful as to temporarily blind Sharingan..but who knows really.

I guess the Hokage was almost out of time after using Shikifuuin and didn't have time to wrestle Hashirama's genjutsu. So, as the genjutsu still keeps the user in the real world, he opted to quickly finish the fight by sensing and sealing the kages.

The 3rd overpowered the genjutsu without his eyes and sealed the two kage. Its quite powerful against normal ninja but nothing before an Uchiha, sensors(all types), intelligent individuals and Jonin. Anyway I think Hashi was retconned and lost yin release by Indra/Asura plot so won't possess it anymore.

Tobirama was the first the use in the anime. In the manga it was Hashirama.

I'd say pretty powerful though especially against a doujutsu user.

But then Madara had no trouble fighting without his eyes.
