Whos was the best villain and why ?

even though kishimoto has a weird logic on a villain
( like the idea of there must be a reason for them to be villains )

which villains you think they have great motivation to be one

i will say Uchiha Madara ( he stick to his ideas till the end )

and Tobi ( not Obito ) he planned everything in Naruto

and Finally Pain he was Something else regarding his peace thing

Nagato has best motivations and backstory! His past with Jiraiya and parallels with naruto make him the best antagonist. thats why many say the anime could have ended after naruto's triumph over nagato.

Nagato. Madara was badass and all but as a villain Nagato was more interesting. Zetsu didn't have a lot of developement, Orochimaru was good too.

All the other villains were just strong and or stupid.

Great characters but garbage villains. Stupidity between these two are clear as day. Such as Orochimaru training Sasuke thinking he was actually going to give up his body.

Madara trusting a black glob to be his ally. Putting all of his faith in a stone tablet and coming up with a convoluted process to be revived and take control of the bijuu.

Madara is one of the strongest but if Kaguya is any indication that power doesn’t make you a interesting character then I don’t know what is.

Nagato. I’ll probably get a lot of hate for this, but I think Madara was poorly written. He had great potential and a great backstory, but there were moments through the series where you just couldn’t pin down what kind of character Madara was. Supposedly he was the “no matter the cost” kind of villain where the ends justify the means but he’s still a good person, yet you get scenes like when Madara reveals that he placed a curse mark on obitos heart and he berates him and acts just plain evil. For a guy who wants to save the world and everyone in it? Extremely out of character. If it weren’t for moments like that then Madara would take #1 but I gotta hand it to Nagato

The time in part 1 and early part 2 when Itachi was a villain, before the reveal, he was a good villain in the sense he was a traumatizing force that seemed really powerful and hard to stop.

Danzo, it's a shame he couldn't have survived a bit longer so we could see more of his shitty ideas in action. Interesting as hell in the sense that he'd protect the village itself, but considered everyone in it as no more than pawns or competition. Would have been cool to see some sort of Uprising Arc where there's a civil war too. A lot more characters within the Leaf would've had their skills showcased.

Orochimaru was the best and creepiest villain. I wished that they had made him the true mastermind behind everything that would have been a better plot twist than Kaguya.

Pain/Nagato.

I was an anime only viewer up until the kage summit so i don't know about the manga, but the approach of portraying Pain's persona in the anime was intense. I remember how i was like "Well damn" when Deva told Konan to prepare to go to Konoha and when he actually got there, the way he took out the ninja's on lookout with negative difficulty then infiltrated the village also with neg diff made me almost go crazy waiting for the next episodes. Those feelings were never replicated after the end of that arc for me lol
