I think he means it's because of Boruto. The "this" indicates "he" must be near, and it's not like Kawaki's modifications were unknown of before. The only difference is his spike in power alongside lengthened tattoos & those were because of the resonance.

First i thought Garou killed Kawaki, but when he started waking up and using the seal felt like something actually awakened it. I hope we get some explanation next chapter and i want to know how Kawaki got his seal
