regeneration / healing call it however you want but all piercing, burning ,explosion wounds he suffered were healed.

Around which chapters? It should be apparent now that I haven't really read the ones around 200-400

I like Hidan but he does not have regenerating powers, otherwise what was kakazu's purpose in re-attaching his severed head?

Maybe he just can't regenerate to that extent or it's too taxing?

Hidan is one of the biggest "What the hell"'s in the series.

The square, circle, and triangle he uses to evoke his ... ability ... are derived from ancient Shinto and Chinese symbolism for the Earth (square), Sun/Sky (Circle) and Stars/Moon (Triangle). His ability is not really explained in terms of chakra or jutsu - it is a sort of ritual religion that evokes the power of a god, Jashin, to make Hidan immortal (quite literally, as far as we can see - damage simply has no effect on him and can be reflected back on the target of someone whose blood the scythe has come into contact with).

Seeing as Kaguya is a goddess-ish type of entity, and Jashin quite clearly has demonstrated that the ritual, at least, works... it would stand to reason that these two entities would potentially exist in conflict with each other (Kaguya and Jashin), however, this is never explored - and Jashinism is just completely ignored from that point forward.

Frankly, I would make it a rather firm point to have my intelligence operatives (like the Anbu) begin looking into just what in the world Jashinism was and how it created a monster of a person like Hidan. His existence isn't really explained, nor is he given a full end, either. He's simply buried alive and in pieces. Which... should kill most people, but, you know, Hidan. Someone could simply come along and dig him back up. Or, hell, Jashin could perhaps get tired of his servant being buried and do some god-like-thing and perform a miracle to dig him out of a hole.

The fact that a literal death cult succeeded in creating someone like Hidan, and the Ninja are supposed to be in an era of peace... kind of seems like plot element to explore.

I dunno... it canโ€™t be that great if he uses kakuzu for stuff. Itโ€™s possible he heals normally but is just immortal

I think his healing is like Zabuza's sword. It takes Iron from those it hurts to heal and Hidan takes health/blood from those whom he kills in his ritual to heal. The more he gets the stronger and healthier he gets at least that's what I think.

Kind of off topic, but what if Jashin turns out to be Urashiki or another otsutsuki? Lol

That is a possibility. Or, perhaps an entity the Otsutsuki are locked into war against? I simply have no idea how a battle between Kaguya and Hidan would play out. In theory, Kaguya should win... however, Hidan can't exactly be killed, either. While it would be possible to explain that Kaguya has an ability that is simply more powerful than Jashin's ritual and can undo it, or that she has some kind of ability to permanently seal him... the little we see of Hidan doesn't really give him any weaknesses. He can be cut into pieces and not die. While it's not the same as edo regeneration where lost body parts regrow, they are simply not destroyed in the first place and can be re-attached. That's all the information we have to work with, really. Since it isn't a sort of ninjutsu, we have no idea how it would fare against someone who could absorb ninjutsu or disrupt the edo tensei process. It could be rationalized that they are related and, therefor, would be subject to those rules... but we just don't know.

Given that, having a bunch of people like Hidan rain down from the sky at you would be one hell of a problem, even for the Otter-skis.

Sakura is like a star fish, can regrow from anything and hidan is like a teddy bear that can just be sown back together if it isnโ€™t damaged too bad, with that being said you can probably see hidans head on a new body

He cannot regenerate, that is specifically why kakuzu was his partner, so he could sew him back together

It's literally the other way around. They're partners because Kakuzu can tear him apart and he'd still live.
