I came across these translations from the 2nd volume of Ace's Novel courtesy of Sandman. I enjoyed reading them and learning some additional stuff. Hope you do too

Prologue:
Whitebeard is smiling in a Captain room and reads a newspaper that reports Aces rejection about World Governments offer to become a shichibukai. Thatch enters the room. Whitebeard praises the sea snake soup was delicious today. Thatch tells him to take a medicine since otherwise Thatch would be scolded by the doctor. 4th division where Thatch belongs is responsible for a kitchen in the Whitebeard Pirates. Thatch is a COOK. He tells Whitebeard that Jimbei is going to leave the ship.Whitebeard goes out of his room and finds Jimbei whos about to jump into the ocean. Whitebeard complains to him that he leaves the ship and goes to Marineford without saying in any words. Whitebeard hands over the newspaper about Ace to Thatch and asks Jimbei if he knows Ace. Jimbei already knows his name and DF ability since so many posters about Ace are spreading.Thatch says to Jimbei that Whitebeard needs to refrain from eating salty foods for his health. Thatch asks Jimbei to let them know if Jimbei gets more information on Ace. Thatch and Jimbei talk politely. Thatch calls Jimbei "Jimbei-oyabun" and Jimbei refers to Thatch as "Thatch-san" similar to what he did with Ace.

Deuce knows about what happened with Shanks and the bandits in the East blue. And that @Skull Knight idiot told me that Shanks wasn’t a yonko in chapter 1 and nobody knew about the Bandit problem.
