Shikamaru's amount of shadows doesn't augment the jutu's strength. Anyone capable of breaking his normal shadow possession should be able to break this & any character with flight or pseudo-flight can evade this. He won't be capable of 1vs10ing or anything like characters such as Sakura and Hashirama are capable of due to his reserves.

It doesn't matter the night shasow is infinite unless Gaara flights out to the stratosphere.
Oh, wait, I didn't read your original post fully. Still, Shikamaru doesn't have night vision too, so it's pretty pointless.:elmo:

Also, he doesn't have enough chakra, soooooo....

And the characters call always cover themselves up with something to avoid any attack even if they cannot see + some of the them can sense.:sdo:

Not necessarily true, Shikamaru needs more chakra to control his shadow because of the limits on it's size. In a night situation the shadow becomes near infinite therefore chakra requirements would be minimal.

On the other points Shikamaru doesn't need night visions since he can feel them up or just pierce everything.

Sensing wouldn't help it would be the same as Naruto trying to sense the jyubi. Essentially all they'd be sensing was Shikamaru everywhere in his immeasurable capacity.

Hmm... the problem I see is that the shadow is that of the Earth, not shikamaru. Further, it can be argued that the moon's light creates individual shadow/not-shadow spaces.

Does the source of light impact the strength of the shadow technique? Obviously, the sun is a massive nuclear fireball (or ... something like that) - so stepping into the absence of it is notable. However, if we're in a closed room and Shikamaru steps between you and a lightbulb, then it's a shadow created by a very different thing.

Perhaps better phrased, Shikamaru's jutsu allows him to control things which step on his shadow - light-sources he is blocking. He can use chakra to extend this reach. If the moon is not present in the sky and it is night time, then Shikamaru is effectively standing in the Earth's shadow. At this point, he, and almost everyone else, has no shadow (unless you count star light, but I am not going to).
