Any one else noticing the similarities between GT plot and Boruto plot?

In the end the original created crushed GT and created Super so hopefully we can get some cool stuff from Boruto but also get some new canon information from Kishimoto

. . . Not that Dragon Ball Super was any better or worse than GT, for that matter...

In many ways, Naruto had already gone down hill, considerably, after the Chunin Exam arc. It recovered, somewhat, during the opening arc or two of Shipuuden, then started to taper off before plunging off a cliff at the start of the ninja war arc. It's no surprise why, regular release schedules leave little time for plot development and an author may have a decade or more to define how their story starts and works before getting to write the first several chapters.

This is why short series developed in isolation or off of light novels are often vastly superior. Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero, Kill la Kill, etc - these are all excellent productions which focus on a relatively singular plot arc (spare for Fate/Zero, which is just a masterpiece, best tragic theater production ever made). The longer a series drags on, the harder it is to keep it going while hiding the fact you are effectively repeating the same sequence of events every other arc.

Off topic but wtf are you talking about? Super was a flipping success and is MUCH better than gt. That is all.

The story idea of GT is good but the delivery of the story/plot and how Toei handles power-level was a disappointment.

-I like the idea of travelling to many planets.
-I like the idea of baby
-I like the idea of Shadow dragons.

Goku being serious in GT and not looking and acting stupid like DBS Goku. Eventhough Toei messed up on GT powerlevel and consistency at least GT top powerful characters' power level reached at Galaxy level. Unlike DBS the power creep is too high. From just planet to small star buster skyrocketed to Universe buster.

I agree with everything except the goku part. Gt had good ideas, but the implementation was horrible, and it lacked in(arguably) the most important aspect of dragonballz, the fights. I loved Dbs goku, it’s the closest I’ve seen to what I would consider gokus actual character(more a hero by byproduct of his actions than the other way around) I’ve never seen him as a hero as much as a dude who likes to fight strong people to test himself and be stronger. Dbs goku is much kore in line with a Saiyan who lost his memory than the “hero”
Archetype fans kinda pushed him into, at least imo

At least I like his attitude in DBS Manga. He is what you describe but not too over like in anime :sdo:

Success and "good" are not really the same thing. Dragon Ball Super followed much the same formula as DBZ, which is why it felt comfortable to the fans who returned to it.

At the same time, that means it has many (all) of the same flaws of the original formula. Although, kind of taken to such hyperbole that no one really cares, anymore. planets... universes... meta dimensions.... we blow those up, now, just for funzies. It's like pro wrestling, in many ways. More a stage drama than an actual fight. Which is what it is.
