If it was worded, "it's a ninjutsu from the rinnegan Hagormo entrusted him with." then they'd be correct.

In grammar order is most the detail/information always follows the object. If it was in reference to the ninjutsu then it would've read it is a ninjutsu entrusted to him by the sage of 6 path that uses the Rinnegan.
Since the detail/information followed the Rinnegan it was in reference to the that's why the word order is correct. Although not necessary to further clarify this the translator put the word Rinnegan in quotation marks for emphasis.
This is further supported by 3 points in the manga.
1st. Sasuke didn't awaken the Rinnegan of Hogaromo or Madara which is a result of Ashura Indra chakra.
2nd. Hashirama was dead and his soul had transmigranted into Naruto so there was no Ashura chakra. Therefore Hashi cells wouldn't be able to do such a things.
3rd. Hogaromo gave his chakra to Sasuke, Hogaromo's chakra is rokudo chakra.
