Quite funny, that Obito ended up that strong even though he was far weaker than Kakashi at the beginning, but then the Uchiha blood never lets anyone become a fodder, even if they're born without talent. Although speaking for Obito, he became quite the brains when it came to it, if you peer into his character in the War Arc. He's able to pull off tricks that even Itachi would have gaped at. And even if he is not intellectually talented like clear cuts such as Itachi, outside Uchiha standards he's easily a genius. He makes blessed prodigies like Neji and Shikamaru look like puddle.
