Great writing in a movie does not translate the same into reality. Those are nice soundbites, but in reality, most people don't want to die and would choose life over "honor."
And as an example of a real life situation with that sort of logic in mind, recall when Ben Carson said that if in the case of a school shooter, the students should all rush at him because he wouldn't have enough bullets to shoot them all down and it would prevent more deaths. Even though it's a different context, the idea remains the same, and in reality, that idea is pretty stupid when death is a sure thing and no guarantee of success.
