especially if it is something that takes away from your content and you become the focus.
I go into debates a lot and when people are being very adamant, they retort to attack you rather than stay on topic.
I intend to limit that as much as I can. Revealing my face, gender, location, culture, income, etc. would be used to try to invalidate what I say on the topic regardless on whether it was a logical choice or not.
I hear about this tactic used when it pertains to something that you are necessarily not in the group. Meaning that people do not have the power to input anything regardless on whether it is a fact if you do not belong to the group.
If you do belong to the group, anything that goes against the group will be silenced with the words of "traitor" or "hypocrisy"
So no, I do not need to be a credible person if my arguments is backed by facts from credible sources. I merely am just relaying information. If people deny that information, they are at fault. However, if they know anything about you, the information is no longer from a credible source and would be associated with you instead.
Anonymity is a great tool to combat any biases.
